Boosting tourist industry: SME Promotion Agency, Bien Etre Plus seal 11 billion FCFA investment deal.

Government has through the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Promotion Agency, SMEPA, sealed an investment deal with a wellness company called Bien Être Sarl, B&E plus, that will boost the tourism industry of the country.

The Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, was signed in Yaounde on Wednesday, June 11. 



The convention was signed on behalf of SMEPA by its General Manager, Jean Marie Louis Badga and the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Kontcheu Group of companies, mother company of B&E plus, Clauvis Kontcheu Mofang. 

Speaking during the ceremony, SMEPA boss lauded the entrepreneur for believing in the vision of the Head of State to make Cameroon an economic hub and taking interest in investing in the business and tourism industry. 

While praising the magnitude of the investment project worth 11 billion FCFA based in Douala, Badga assured the entrepreneur of governments continuous support through the implementation of the project. 

He also urged other investors to make use of available information on the different SMEPA digital platforms to benefits from government incentives. 

On his part, the CEO of Kontcheu Group expressed gratitude to government for signing the investment agreement with their company, which beyond being an injection of capital, represents a validation of its business model and commitment to innovation and growth. 

“I would like to personally thank APME for their continued support and confidence in our project. Your support is crucial to our development, and we are impatient now that the agreement has been signed and the bank approvals obtained. To start these vast projects,” Kontcheu said during the event.

Going by the CEO, the project will create more than 500 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs for young people.

“We are proud to contribute to the economic and social development of our country, and we are determined to make this public-private partnership a resounding success,” he assured.

 

Details project

Presenting the project, Kontcheu said it is to build a multifunctional centre with a tourist dimension. The centre is said to have an amusement park, an ultramodern sports hall, and shopping mall designed to promote the tourism industry in Cameroon.

“I would also like to point out that the statistics for all of these projects, these three projects that will give a new impetus to Cameroon's tourism industry, will generate more than 500 direct jobs and more than 2,000 indirect jobs in the first three years,” he stated.

Continuous support for project

According to the Director of Private Investment Incentives at SMEPA, Constant Lobe, the SMEPA is determined to accompany the project as it enters the implementation phase.

He stressed that this falls in line with SMEPA’s mission of providing support to small and medium sized enterprises to access incentives provided by the law to help Cameroonians and other investors applying to create value in the country. 

“Our first intervention was to support them in compiling the files which was not easy as the project is a diversify one and we needed to organize the investment file in order for it to cope with the demands of the incentives. We will also accompany them during the implementation phase of the project,” he stressed.
