Cameroon Int'l Cycling Tour: Cameroonian cyclist, Boris Tientcheu, wins first lap.

Cameroonian cyclist, Michel Boris Tientcheu, is the winner of the opening lap of the 2025 Cameroon International Cycling Tour competition.

The Cameroon National Cycling team captain won the 127.9km-long Maroua-Mora-Maroua lap in the Far North Region Wednesday June 4.



This was after the 33-year-old covered the distance in two hours, 58 minutes and 55 seconds.

The Cameroonian registered the victory after performing dominantly from the start to the end of the lap. He enjoyed a one minute, two seconds lead in the final 20 kilometers of the return series from Mora to Maroua.

Ivorian cyclist, Issiaka Cisse completed the race on the second position after doing the series in two hours, 59 minutes and 53 seconds.

Three-time champion and title holder, Cameroon’s Clovis Kamzong Abossolo of the SNH Velo Club ranked third. The 33-year-old covered the distance in two hours, 59 minutes and 53 seconds.

The top five bracket is completed by Burkina Faso’s Ilbouda Soumaila and Schmitz Campo of Team Storck Metropol Cycling of Germany. 

Chofor Fabrice on position nine concludes the list of Cameroonians in the top 10 bracket at the end of the lap. As winner of the first lap, Boris Tientcheu picks the yellow jersey going into the next stages of the competition.  

The yellow jersey is reserved for the cyclist that leads the overall general classification table of the competition at the end of each lap. 

The Cameroonian also holds several other jerseys across different individual award categories as a result of his performance and victory in the opening lap.

He holds the green jersey as the Cameroonian with the highest number of points at the close of the first leg. 

He equally pockets the black jersey reserved for the regular lap winner and the blue jersey as the best-performing Cameroonian for the first lap.

Burkina Faso’s Ilbouda Soumaila who finished fourth on the general classification, bagged the white jersey as the best young cyclist in the first lap. 

Benin’s Saiznou Glorad secures the sky-blue jersey for the most combative cyclist in the first lap while Cameroon’s Rodrigue Nounawe holds the white shirt with red polka dots as the best climber. Some 60 cyclists from Africa and Europe are competing in the 2025 race. 

The second lap of the competition takes place from Maroua to Figuil in the Far North Region this Thursday. The 110km-long lap is the longest of the 10 stages of the ongoing 2025 race.
