Tchatchoua’s club relegated from Premier League!.

Cameroon international defender, Jackson Tchatchoua and his club, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been relegated from the English Premier League.

The Indomitable Lions right-back and his second-division bound club lost their top tier status on Monday April 20.

Their fate was sealed after Crystal Palace drew goalless with relegation-threatened West Ham United.

The stalemate meant Wolves found itself 16 points from the safety zone with five games left in the season.

The relegation also ends Wolves' eight-season stay in the Premier League.

Tchatchoua joined Wolves last year in a five-year deal worth 12.5 million euros, over eight billion FCFA. He became only the third Cameroonian to play for Wolves and the first in close to 15 years.

The first was George Elokobi, who played between 2008 and 2012 with four goals in 105 appearances. Sebastien Bassong was the second. Bassong played for Wolves in 2012 featuring nine times.

Tchatchoua signed from Italian side Hellas Verona where he was recognized as the fastest player of the Serie A last season with an average top speed of 34.88kmph.

He is currently the fastest player in the Premier League, having clocked an incredible top speed of 37.30km/h.

He played in 30 matches this season with one assist.

The Executive Chairman of Wolves, Nathan Shi, in a message to fans said: “Confirmation of our relegation is a difficult moment for everyone connected to Wolves. While this is a deeply disappointing outcome, work has been underway since my arrival in December to ensure we are ready to respond with clarity and conviction”.

He added that: “We are clear on what needs to improve, and our focus is now on strengthening the club, building momentum and creating a team our supporters can believe in. We know what is required and will approach the months ahead with purpose”.

It is still unclear if Tchatchoua will stay with Wolves in the Championship next season despite his long-term contract with the club.

It is the first time he has experienced relegation in his senior career.

Before joining Wolves, Tchatchoua played for Hellas Verona, where he helped them avoid relegation from Serie A in the 2023–2024 season.
