Charmed by internet quality: Chadian telecom reinforces partnership with CAMTEL.

Leading telecommunications company, Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, has reinforced its partnership agreement with Chadian telecommunications company, SUDACHAD.

The signing of a ground-breaking contract to this effect took place yesterday at the headquarters of CAMTEL in Yaounde. The partnership deal was signed by the General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday épse Achidi, and the new SUDACHAD General Manager, Khalid Mohamed Elhassan Elhag.

Through the partnership, both parties intend to strengthen their historic bilateral ties. It was revealed that SUDACHAD came to CAMTEL, to discuss with its Cameroonian partner the prospects of increasing its internet offering to 30 Gbits. The Chadian operators said this follows an ever-increasing demand from its customers.

It was also revealed that SUDACHAD intends to extend its connection from East to West across the entire Sao territory. This will however require an active transmission system capacity, capable of supporting all kinds of services requested locally or globally.

It is in this light, they said they are soliciting the premium and unmatched services of CAMTEL, to strengthen their internet offering and capacities. This, they said, shall contribute significantly to achieving their objectives.

Speaking during the ceremony, CAMTEL GM, Judith Yah Sunday épse Achidi, said the agreement underscores CAMTEL’s ambitions in becoming a hub in the Central Africa Subregion.

The CAMTEL GM went further to reiterate the commitment of the institution towards improving the quality of services provided to its clients.

“We have once more established a landmark in our relationship through the rich discussions which, we have no doubt, will stay rooted as we go forward. Finding a redundant path to interconnect our network remains a priority for us in our bid for continuous improvement of the network availability,” Judith Yah Sunday épse Achidi said.

She also revealed that thanks to their discussion, they were able to review “areas of further collaboration like the possibility of extending CAMTEL’s network to Chad via SUDACHAD infrastructure”.

“We have examined many aspects of our relationship and made strong recommendations on how we can grow the business between our two companies,” she added.

Speaking earlier, the visiting General Manager of SUDACHAD, said the partnership deal with CAMTEL was arguably the best he ever penned.

Khalid Mohamed thanked the CAMTEL GM for her relentless efforts in ensuring that they both attain their goals. He said the contract with CAMTEL shall help them address some of their challenges.

“There is a huge progress in development in CAMTEL. We found more than we expected. They [CAMTEL] gave us full support. I will go back to my Board of Directors with this contract resolving all issues,” the visibly satisfied SUDACHAD General Manager said.

Reliable sources told inquisitive reporters that deliberations between CAMTEL and SUDACHAD have been on-going for about two days before a common consensus was arrived at.

The six-team SUDACHAD delegation arrived Cameroon on July 26. During their stay, they also held closed-door talks with the Business Unit Transport, BUT of CAMTEL.

They were able to review the different challenges they have been facing from the legal, commercial and financial aspects. It is worth mentioning that CAMTEL and SUDACHAD have entertained cordial relationship since 2020.
