FEICOM honours hard work, awards labour medals to staff.

The Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, has awarded labour medals to some 300 workers of the establishment. This, they did, in recognition of their hard work, devotion to the ethics of the institution and their professionalism in delivering services to the public.

The event at the institution’s headquarters in Yaounde, yesterday, took place in the presence of top government officials.

Amonst them were the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona; the Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam and the Governor of Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea.

Speaking during the ceremony, FEICOM boss, Philippe Camille Akoa, said the award of the labour medals cover the period from from 2017 to 2023.

He attributed the success of the institution to strict respect of the ethics of the establishment that are tailored to meet international standards.

He saluted the staff for their commitment, adding that they have remained focused on the missions assigned to FEICOM by President Paul Biya.

This focus, he said, has helped staff to build an identity that is centred on a culture of performance, undivided sense of duty and customer satisfaction.

FEICOM staff expressed pride in being saddled with implementing the accelerated decentralisation process, a duty they say attests to the human resources capability of FEICOM.

This has also earned FEICOM international recognition by the International Standards Organisation, ISO 9001 in 2015 and 2019.

FEICOM work ethics also emphasise that service quality leads to higher productivity and worker happiness, as they all strive to remain guided by ISO principles, especially, that of staying customer-focused, exhibiting leadership in all situations and working to ensure continuous staff improvement.

Also, under the growing impetus to implement the decentralisation process, FEICOM now pays salaries to councilors, mayors, and officials of Regional Councils.

FEICOM recently completed the construction of regional offices in seven out of the 10 Regions. This, to the boss of the institution, is to make sure workers have better conditions to honourably carry out the responsibility of accelerating decentralsation as assigned by the Head of State.

Dika Martine, who spoke in her capacity as staff representative, said FEICOM has made commendable strides in improving the working and living conditions of workers.

She however regretted that government is yet to sign the work contract agreement reached between representatives of workers and the management of FEICOM.

She said FEICOM, though grouped among top government establishments in the country, doesn’t enjoy the same status like other institutions with which they are grouped in the same category.

Gregoire Owona, Minister of Labour and Social Security, promised to look at the grievances raised, in order to satisfy the concerns of FEICOM employees.
