Celebrated rapper, Ko-C, honours Orange Cameroun at album launch.

Cameroonian rapper and sensation to youth, Njang Collins, popularly known as Ko-C, has showered praises on telecommunications company, Orange Cameroun, for supporting his dreams and career as well as promoting the growth of the country

He was speaking during a press conference that marked the launching ceremony of his outstanding album called “Genesis”.

Being Orange Cameroun’s Brand Ambassador, the artist was clad in the colours of the company in an interesting exchange with the press. Ko-C used the presser to narrated his journey from Kumba to the world.

The new album, “Genesis”, features 17 tracks and music genres ranging from afrobeat, Afropop, Ampiano and the artist’s favourite, Bikutsi.

His genre of music and content has captured several Cameroonians, especially the young generation who are using his tracks to dominate social media platforms.

Ko-C said he has gained a lot of followers due to his songs.

He encouraged other artists to learn how some social media platforms work and use them to grow their audience.

African stars who featured in his album include Sardokie, Falz, Longue Longue, Kameni, Awu amongst others. His album is available on Boomplay and his song, “Deux Oeufs Spaghetti”, has remained the most searched song.

Ko-C’s romance with Orange Cameroun started when he singlehandedly launched the song, “Quand J’aurai L’argent’. With the phrase, Plenty Money, he fell rightly into Orange Cameroun’s Plenty Money campaign. The slogan, Plenty Money, was adopted for the campaign and Ko-C’s image was used. Ko-C said the campaign has been the most successful he has ever been involved in.

Ko-C’s love for Kumba could be heard in his songs though he hails from Bafut in the North West Region. He is a graduate with a BSc in Management. He loves food so much that it is reflected in his songs. His latest, “Landé”, hit millions of views on YouTube.

Though Ko-C, in previous outings, had believed Cameroonian artists can make it isolated, the artist today has a different mentality which he believes should be adopted by many.

Having worked with Nigerian artists on his new album, the artist thinks Nigeria has contributed hugely in exposing African content to the world and should be appraised for that.

“Nigeria has definitely influenced not just Cameroon, but Africa music as a whole and it’s definitely taking over the world with Afrobeat and Afro Fusion. It’s left for us to learn from them. I used to fight them, but over time I learned that these people have understood the world of show buzz…instead of fighting, let’s integrate,” Ko-C said during his album launch.

“True, Cameroonian music used to take over the world, but now tables have turned and Nigerians are leading. While hoping Cameroon regains its title, let’s collaborate with others,” he added.

Orange Cameroun has demonstrated goodwill towards the development of Cameroon’s entertainment industry by promoting its content. Before Ko-C, the company had also acknowledged the works of Kang Quintus, a movie producer, whose film, “Fishermen Diaries”, was aired on popular streaming platform Netflix.

Njang Collins, aged 30, saw the light in his career in 2016 when he formally went solo and signed a contract with RM Music label where he released the popular track, “Balancé”.

In 2018, he released “Ça a Cuit” under the Big Dreams Entertainmnet Label, which  kept several Cameroonians to their dancing feet and also served as a warning to young persons who are having unprotected sex.

His performance in the industry has led him to winning the Best New Artist at the Urban Jan’s Awards in 2018, RMA Award for Best Revelation, Best Collaboration with Tenor for “Balancé”  and was also nominated for AFRIMMA Awards same year.
