CAF Champions League: Colombe urged to exercise caution, humility in Teungueth FC clash.

Players and management of Colombe of Dja and Lobo have been urged to remain humble and exercise caution during their forthcoming clash with Senegal’s Teungeuth Football Club in the CAF Champions League.

The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, who is a member of the club’s council of wisemen, made the call in Yaounde earlier this week.

He was speaking while welcoming the club back home following its 2-0 victory over Teungeuth FC in the first leg of the final round of the preliminaries of the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League, last Sunday.

Prof Fame Ndongo congratulated the two-time and defending Cameroon champions for the victory, describing the attitude that the players demonstrated in Dakar during the match as valiant, intrepid and combative.

The minister tasked the team to exercise a high level of caution when it hosts the West African outfit at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde next Sunday in the return fixture.

He argued that such a humble yet strategic approach will immensely contribute in preventing the team from failing to attain its goal on Sunday when victory will hand the South Region side its maiden qualification ticket to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

“We wish the team every success for the return leg. We are urging them not to rest on their laurels. No self-sufficiency. No self-glorification. No triumphalism. We must remain modest yet intrepid,” Prof Fame Ndongo said.

“They have talent, everyone knows that. But talent alone is not enough. We must add willpower. When you are talented and determined, you win and we know that they are and that they are going to win,” he added.

He also called on supporters of the club and all well-wishers to turn out massively to push the team to success during the highly-awaited match on Sunday.
