Fireworks as 2027 twin polls near: Former SDO joins MRC, Hon Nourane dumps PCRN.

Tchakui Jean Marie : Retired SDO

Shifts across the political spectrum have continued to reveal new dynamics as momentum builds for municipal and legislative elections expected to take place in the first quarter of 2027.

Among the changes are new faces that are joining partisan politics while old faces are taking new paths. For the new faces, it is the former Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Kupe Muanenguba, Jean Marie Tchakui Noudie, who has joined the opposition Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC.

He was filmed at a recent gathering of MRC supporters, wearing the party’s, muffler and making references about his time as a civil administrator. The gathering took place in his native Batchieu, Upper Nkam Division of the West Region.

The meeting is believed to have taken place in the West Region. He recalled having served as Divisional Officer, DO V for five years and also as DO of Douala I.

The retired administrator stated that every administrative authority has his/her personal convictions. Tchakwi boasted that those who crossed path with him during the years he served in Douala can attest to his integrity.

“I managed elections in the economic capital of Cameroon and I never tempered with election results. People can attest to this, I always said results from the ballot box must be respected,” he declared.

He disclosed that after going on retirement in 2022, he acquired an MRC membership card in 2023. The former SDO said he didn’t compromise while serving as an administrator, reason he was “thrown out” despite still being very strong.

“When I became SDO of Kupemuanenguba, these same persons… when I was asked to do certain things, I looked at my hierarchy in the face and told them that this particular one, I can’t do it,” he disclosed.

He told the audience at the political meeting that: “This is just to tell you that, I am with you, I have become part of MRC to give the best of myself”.
Tchakwi urged the party’s supporters to mobilise for the upcoming elections. He insisted that work has to be done so that the MRC “changes the face of Cameroon”.

Hon Nourane Moluh: Former PCRN lawmaker

Hon Nourane Foster dump PCRN

The latest shift in the political landscape is that of the Member of Parliament for Wouri East Constituency, Hon Nourane Moluh Hassana   Fosting, who has resigned from the opposition Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation, PCRN.

She resigned in a letter addressed to PCRN National President, Hon Cabral Libii dated Saturday, September 26. In the letter, a copy of which the lawmaker shared on her official social media handles, Nourane said the decision is based on deep reflection.

The MP wrote that disagreements within the PRCN, a shift from its original philosophy and attacks on her ethnicity necessitated resignation.

Nourane revisited her presence at an event which the First Lady Chantal  Biya organised at the Unity Palace as having drawn criticism from within the PCRN.

He criticised Cabral Libii for having also attended meetings at the Unity Palace presided by President Paul Biya but trying to stop others from doing so in the interest of the nation.

“Beyond personal injury, our divergence is deeply ideological. I can’t recognise myself in a political configuration that gives room for exclusion…and stigmatisation of citizens based on their origins,” her resignation letter read in parts.

The MP said she has not left the party with hate or a sense of revenge. Nourane said the memory of battles fought together with members of the PCRN is what she is moving on with.

She called for respect and tolerance but warned that she reserves the right to respond to any form of attacks. The Wouri East lawmaker wrote being in the know that her resignation letter is going to provoke negative reactions. Nourane assured her former party that she would no longer remain silent if attacked.

New party, new project

The same day of her resignation, Nourane unveiled her belonging to a new political configuration known as the Social Pact for Governance with French abbreviation, PSG. She described the formation as a “Centre-left party”.

The MP announced that the party is seeking to invest and sponsor at least 100 young people in the twin polls of next year.
