Kumba: BAFCUDA donates didactics to underprivileged students.

Beneficiary underprivileged children were drawn from nursery schools to university level.

The beneficiaries came from across the 10 villages that make up the Bafaw tribe in Meme Division of the South West Region.

The humanitarian gesture, aimed at supporting Bafaw children ahead of the 2026/2027 academic year, saw hundreds of pupils and students receive school bags, books, pens, uniforms and other essential learning materials.

Speaking through an interlocutor, Stephen Sona Epoke, the Paramount Ruler of the Bafaw, Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, said the initiative is aimed at supporting less privileged children whose parents cannot afford basic school needs, and to fight against school drop-out in the Bafaw community.

The Bafaw monarch hailed the BAFCUDA Kumba Branch for championing the fund drive to assist pupils and students across the Bafaw tribe.

"Education remains one of the greatest investments we can make for the advancement of our people," Nfon Mukete stated.

He reiterated to the beneficiaries that they should uphold discipline, hard work and the quest for success, so that when they succeed, they will be able to lend a helping hand to the next generation of Bafaw children to ensure continuity.

Addressing the gathering, the President General of BAFCUDA, Bakoma Elango Zacheus, who was represented by Barrister Kwolo Matuke, thanked the Bafaw people for choosing him as President General and noted that he will work hard for the socio-economic development of the Bafaw tribe.

President Bakoma used the opportunity to call on Bafaw parents to orientate their children towards technical education and the sciences to match the existing job market.

The President of BAFCUDA Kumba Branch and Secretary General of BAFCUDA General, Barrister Adolf Kwolo Matuke, thanked all sons and daughters of the Bafaw tribe for their contributions and congratulated the laureates who excelled in the just-released GCE Ordinary and Advanced Levels. 
 

Barrister Kwolo said they will not relent in their efforts and hope to make it even bigger next year.

Beneficiaries from the 10 villages including Ikiliwindi, Dieka Bafaw, Mambanda, Bolo, Dikomi, Kombone Bafaw, Kokobuma, Njanga, Kurume and others have expressed gratitude to BAFCUDA for coming to their aid at a time when many families are struggling with back-to-school expenses.

They have promised to make good use of the donations so as not to disappoint the tribe for its tremendous contributions towards their education.

Parents and traditional rulers present at the ceremony lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and encouraging, and called on other elites and well-wishers to emulate the gesture.

Speaking earlier in his homily, Rev Dr Njie David King drew his inspiration from Proverbs 22:6, stating that: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.

The man of God also encouraged the children to take God as their shield along their academic journey to ensure success. It was revealed that the initiative of the BAFCUDA Kumba Branch was spread across the tribe and a sum of 5 million FCFA was raised. 

Beneficiaries received books, school bags, pens, pencils, and partial scholarships ranging from 20,000 FCFA to 50,000 FCFA to help pay their school fees.
