National Interpools: Chaos erupts as Rizier FC fans attack referees, journalist.

This was during a Pool A matchday four clash pitting Riziere FC of the Noun and North West Region club, Bafmeng United FC. 

The crunch fixture had been interrupted for 23 minutes after the referee had halted the game in the 48th minute of play after an assistant referee complaint about projectile, objects thrown from the stands onto the pitch. 

The game finally resumed with Bafmeng United FC securing a narrow 1-0 win over their West Region rivals with Ebua Dieudonne scoring the winner at the 38th minute of play. 

The damaging result of the game sparked unrest among some Rizier FC fans. This was because while Bafmeng United FC secured a first win in the annual competition to secure promotion to the second tier, Riziere FC on their part missed the chance to move into the top two of Pool A which guarantees qualification for the semi-final. 

Witnesses say angry supporters chased and attacked the match officials, rival fans before turning to a member of the media. 

Journalist, Nsonyi Amstrong, reports say, was physically assaulted during the disturbances. His phone, we gathered from close sources, was damaged in the process. 

He was spotted yesterday during a training session of the junior national team at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza, outskirts of Yaounde yesterday morning.  

Some of the property at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo were also damaged in the process. This is not the first time violence has marred the National Interpools.  

A similar scene unfolded at the 2025 National Interpools, when match officials were assaulted after the clash between Mintack FC and Kumba City FC.

Riziere FC condemns act, play Pontious pilate 

After the incident, the management of Riziere FC of Noun strongly condemned the pitch invasion and chaos that followed after the game against Bafmeng United FC. 

They said the club subscribes to fair play, adheres to the rules, and responsible conduct from all football stakeholders as stipulated at the start of the competition. 

According to the management of the club, the individuals involved are in “no official way supporters or members of Riziere FC community”. 

The club labelled them as “sympathizers claiming affiliation” and that they “acted on their own initiatives without the approval or involvement of the administrative, technical staff or players.” 

Riziere FC also apologized to the assaulted match officials, Bafmeng United and supporters. They also pledged to cooperate fully with competent authorities and disciplinary bodies to shed light on these events and address the consequences.

They also said they will engage in an awareness-raising campaign and security measures will be reinforced starting with the next matchday to ensure such incidents do not happen again.
