France: Song signs first professional contract at Metz FC.

It said the youngster penned down a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.

The team described the signing of the rising defensive sensation as the latest demonstration of its proven trust on its young talents, Song having originally joined the youth system of the French selection over three years ago.

“Having joined FC Metz in 2023, Bryan Song quickly stood out for his personality, game intelligence, and ability to consistently produce high-intensity runs. Season after season, he cleared the various stages of his development, gaining maturity and consistency,” the club wrote on its statement to confirm the signing of the youngster.

“Appreciated for his technical quality, work rate, and team spirit, he established himself as one of the key leaders of his generation. His development reflects his daily rigor and continuous drive to improve,” the club said about the right-back who led Metz FC to the final of the National Under19 Championship in France last season.

Song who scored in the final match of the regular season of the U19 French championship last season to help Metz FC to qualify for the playoffs phase of the competition, described the contract offer from the team as a dream come true.

“I am very happy to sign my first professional contract with FC Metz. The hard work that I have been putting continues is gradually achieving its goals, and the best is yet to come,” the young defender said.

He added that: “I am very proud to continue defending the colors of my youth club. I want to deeply thank the club as well as everyone who supports me daily for their trust”. 

Bryan Song’s father, two-time Africa Cup of Nations-winning Indomitable Lions captain, Rigobert Song, made 147 appearances for Metz FC between 1994 and 1998.
