Ligue 1: Lyon makes offer to sign Lions striker, Etta Eyong.

French giants, Olympique Lyonnais, have made a strong push to sign Cameroon international forward, Karl Etta Eyong.

According to multiple reports, the Ligue 1 side tabled a 15 million Euros offer, over nine billion FCFA, to sign the physically imposing Indomitable Lions striker.

Lyon intend to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/2027 season and believe the Cameroonian international is a right pick to bolster its attack.

This recent development means that Etta Eyong could leave the Spanish La Liga for France’s Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old Cameroonian striker is still under contract with Levante and impressed in his first season with the club.

During the 2025–26 LaLiga season, Etta Eyong made 33 league appearances for Levante, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

The Indomitable Lions striker finished the season as the club’s joint second top scorer with seven goals and with the third best assist record with four, one shy of Pablo Martinez and Jon Ander Olasagasti with five assists.

Etta Eyong was arguably the most successful Cameroonian player across Spain’s divisions last season, with others like Enzo Boyomo, and Allan Nyom also impressing.

The former Villareal striker was also nominated for the Sporty LaLiga Most Valuable Player, MVP.

Etta Eyong featured for the awards for the first time but missed out after being sidelined by the team for most parts of the second part of the championship in Spain.

The Cameroonian striker lost his starting spot to his teammate Carlos Espi since Etta Eyong refused to join Russian club CSKA Moscow.

Lyon are currently battling for a spot to play European football next season.

They finished fourth last season with 60 points from 34 matches but could not secure direct qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

They face Sparta Praha in a two-legged round three clash of the UEFA Champions League qualification. The matches are scheduled to take place next month.

Lyon’s qualification for the most prestigious club competition in Europe could, experts say, push the club to complete the signing of Etta Eyong to France.

It should be recalled that Etta Eyong is prioritizing a move to the Premier League, with clubs like Ipswich Town and Everton having already held discussions.

However, the player’s club Levante is demanding an asking price exceeding €30 million, over 19 billion FCFA, to sell the forward this summer.
