SNH’s Kuere Rodrigue wins Cameroon Int’l Cycling Tour.

He completed the 10-stage race in 24 hours, 36 minutes and 55 seconds to sit 30 seconds ahead of his main challenger Charrois Leo.

Said Nassim of the Algerian national team ranked third after finishing the competition one minute and 25 seconds behind the overall winner.

Nassim’s teammate Mimouni Oussama Abdellah placed fourth while Ilboudo Soumaila of the Burkina Faso national selection completed the top five ranking, sitting two minutes and 21 seconds behind the overall winner. 

Record competition three-time champion Clovis Kamzong Abossolo of the SNH Velo Club occupied the seventh position followed by the Cameroon national team pair of Mouhammed Ibrahim and Tientcheu Miche Boris who held the eighth and nineth places respectively.

Spirited individual, team performance

Kuere Nounawe’s triumph on the overall general standing came after Team Cameroon put up a spirited fight during the 115.5km-long 10th stage from Mbalmayo to Yaounde in the Centre Region on Sunday. 

Kuere Nounawe did the bulk of the work. He won the final stage in two hours, 42 minutes and 59 seconds after outsmarting Algeria’s Saidi Nassim in the final sprint at the May 20th Boulevard. 

SNH Velo Club’s Kossoko Sadikou Jeremie completed the stage on the third position after establishing himself as a key player in Team Cameroon’s strategic bid to turn the battle for the overall winner’s crown in favor of his compatriot Kuere Nounawe.

Kuere Nounawe who held the leadership position from the first to the fourth stage, headed to the final stage on Sunday trailing Charrois Leo by 44 seconds on the general standing. 

The German cyclist enjoyed the advantage after jealously consolidating the lead that he first acquired at the end of the fifth stage which took place from Bafia in the Centre Region to Bangangte in the West Region last Monday. 

Record breaker

The success in the 2026 race makes Kuere Nounawe the fourth Cameroonian to win the Cameroon International Cycling Tour, joining the class of Joseph Sanda of blessed memory, Martinien Tega, Yves Ngue Ngock and Clovis Kamzong Abossolo.

The cyclist enters the record books as the only Cameroonian who has won either the Cameroon International Cycling Tour or the Chantal Biya International Tour since Kamzong Abossolo began dominating Cameroonian road cycling in 2015.

Kamzong Abossolo won the Cameroon International Cycling Tour in 2015, 2021 and 2024 and emerged winner of the Chantal Biya Cycling Tour in 2017.

Before Kamzong Abossolo, Ngue Ngock had been the last Cameroonian to win the Chantal Biya International Cycling Tour following his success in 2013. 

Ngue Ngock was also the last Cameroonian to succeed in the Cameroon International Cycling Tour following his triumph in the event in 2012 before the Kamzong Abossolo takeover. 

Individual, team awards 

Asides claiming the overall winner’s yellow jersey offered by National Hydrocarbons Corporations, SNH, Kuere Nounawe secured two other individual distinctions at the end of the competition.

He secured the blue jersey for his distinction as the best-ranked Cameroonian in the competition. The award is sponsored by Cameroon telecommunications company, CAMTEL.

The cyclist who has now won two major competitions following his triumph in the 2024 Cote d’Ivoire International Cycling Tour, also bagged the Castel Beer black jersey as winner of the final stage of the 2026 Cameroon tour.

Algeria’s Assal Mohamed-Nadjib secured the Cameroon radio television’s green jersey as the best-ranked athlete on the classification based on the total points accumulated throughout the competition.

Algeria’s Mimouni Oussama Abdellah got the Cameroon Cycling Federation’s polka doted white jersey for his distinctive showing as the best climber while Burkina Faso’s Ilbouda Soumaila claimed the University of the Golf of Guinea’s white jersey as the best young cyclist. SNH Velo Club emerged as the best team. 

Speaking in an interview at the end of the competition, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, said the government is satisfied and proud of the manner in which the competition was organized. The 2026 competition attracted over 40 cyclists from nine teams from across Africa and abroad.
