Judo federation to hold elective general assembly Saturday.

Incumbent president, Alain Kingue, favorite for re-election

The Cameroon Judo Federation, FECAJUDO, will organise its elective General Assembly in Yaounde on Saturday, June 6. The gathering will assemble Cameroonian judo stakeholders from across the national territory.

The major activity will be the election of the executive bureau that will run the institution for the next four years. The exercise will be expected to culminate in the smooth reelection of the federation’s long-serving president, Alain Kingue, and his close aids led by Secretary General, Tekam Kamsu-Kom, and Technical Director, Zoa Adolphe Roland.

Alain Kingue has served as president of FECAJUDO for over 13 years following his arrival at the helm of the institution in 2013.

He has been hailed for his immense contribution to the growth of judo in Cameroon through the introduction schemes that promote the development of the sport and have also led to Cameroonian judokas consistently excelling in international judo competitions.

One of the biggest achievements that is credited to the official is the construction of the federation’s ultramodern headquarters as a fruit of a partnership with the government of Japan.

The headquarters which is located in Soa in the outskirt of Yaounde, was inaugurated in 2022. Alain Kingue has risen across the ranks in judo administration on the continent.

He is presently serving as the Head Sports Director and Technical Director at the African Judo Union, the region’s governing body for judo.

By press time yesterday, he was the lone openly known candidate for the post of president in Saturday’s election although he has faced a series of criticism from a section of stakeholders of Cameroonian judo in the last couple of years.

The official’s candidacy is accompanied by several of his long-serving collaborators including vice president Fouda Berthin, general secretary Tekam Kamsu-Kom and the head of the finance department, Kondga Nkou Etienne Marcel.

Saturday’s election will serve as the major point of the weekslong elections that the federation has been organizing in a bid to renew its leadership teams both at the regional and national levels.

The first phase of voting at the regional levels was concluded last weekend with the election of regional bureaus across eight regions.

Celebrated sports administrators Tagne Tayo Sylvain and Manga Ettien Tangyi were notably voted regional heads for the South West and North West regions respectively.

According to FECAJUDO, the regional elections will be concluded subsequently after the national election on Saturday. It will conclude with the voting of the leadership teams of the North and South regions. The regional bureaus comprise of a president, vice president, a general secretary and head of the finance department.
