Elite One: Colombe host leaders Unisport in title decider today.

Colombe Sportive are hoping to win back-to-back trophies

South Region football outfit, Colombe Sportive of the Dja and Lobo, host their counterparts of the West Region, Unisport of the Upper Nkam, today in a possible title decider of this season's MTN Elite One Championship.

The crunch fixture, whose outcome will go a long way in deciding where the title tilts, will take place at the Ahmadou Ahidjou Stadium in Yaounde at 4:00p.m.

Colombe Sportive are defending champions of the Elite One Championship after securing their maiden title last season. They have a chance to cut the gap to the top to three points if they beat Unisport today.

Unisport currently lead the table six points clear of its nearest challenger Colombe Sportive. They are on course to ending their three decades wait for the coveted trophy after a historic crown in 1996.

The game has been tagged as the match of the season with both sides determined to secure maximum points and boost their chances.

Colombe Sportive is one of the most prolific teams in the league at the moment. They are currently unbeaten in their last 10 matches.

The Elite One holders have also won four matches in a row scoring 11 times and conceding just once. They are getting better after every game and have upped the ante after the first phase of the championship.

Unisport on the other hand head into today's fixture knowing that another slip up will be very costly to their title ambitions.

They have already paid a heavy price for not taking the title race out of sight despite establishing at least a nine points lead before Colombe cut the gap.

After their embarrassing 5-0 defeat to PWD of Bamenda, which ended their impressive 10-match unbeaten streak, Unisport returned to winning ways by edging mid table side Victoria United FC in a six-goal thriller and defeating relegation battling Aigle Royal du Moungo 3-1.

When both teams met in March, they separated in a goalless stalemate. A draw will be favourable for Unisport and will take them one step closer to the title but will dent Colombe Sportive’s title hopes and chances to retain the title.

There are two other matches scheduled today to complete matchday 22 which started yesterday. In the other fixture, fifth place PWD of Bamenda host Canon Sportive of Yaounde ranked sixth in a cracker.

The Abakwa Boys are aiming to avenge their 3-1 defeat during their first round in Yaounde and will be counting on their impressive home record to settle the contest with ease.

Elsewhere, AS Fortuna and Aigle Royal of the Moungo clash in a bottom of the table clash. AS Fortuna is bottom of the table with 14 points from 21 matches and will boost their survival chances with a win.

Aigle on their part targets a win to edge closer to safety. They are currently on the relegation playoff spot and only a point from Stade Renard of Melong.
