Malone close in on double with USM Alger.

Cameroonian international defender, Che Malong Fondoh Junior, is on the verge of winning two major trophies for the first time in his career this season with USM Alger.

The versatile Cameroonian centre-back and the Algerian club kept their hopes of winning a double this season after securing qualification for the final of the Algerian Cup.

Malone’s USM Alger booked a place in the final of the annual knockout competition following a 3-1 win over CA Batma. This was during a highly disputed final which took place over the weekend.

USM Alger survived a scare from the Ligue 2 side to advance to the final where they will be defending their title as reigning champions.

They got off to a perfect start when Aime Etane Tendeng opened the scoring barely 11 minutes into the fixture. But the host leveled before the break.

The club settled the game in extra-time when Mohamed Bouderbala hit a brace on 99th minute and 120th minute to seal the win. They will face CR Belouizdad in the final.

The win means Malone and USM Alger have qualified for two major finals this season.

It should be recalled that the Algerian side qualified for the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup final after a 1-1 aggregate draw against Olympique Safi in Morocco, advancing on away goals.

They reached the Confederation Cup final for the second time in their history, becoming the first Algerian club to achieve this feat twice, having previously lifted the trophy in the 2022-23 season. They will face Zamalek in the final.

In the Algerian Ligue 1, USM Alger sits 12th on the standing with 29 points but have five fewer games played than other clubs.

Malone officially joined USM Alger on December 9, 2025, signing a two-year contract with the Algerian top-tier side from Tanzanian club Simba SC.
