The Head of State, President Paul Biya, has knighted young and dynamic civil servant, Tanyi Nixson Ngoh, for his distinguished and dedicated service to the nation.

Still in his thirties, Tanyi Nixson was recently honoured with the medal of Knight of the Cameroon Order of Valour, a rare distinction conferred on Cameroonians, for years of selfless service to the nation.

Tanyi is among few Cameroonians of his age, to have received the State distinction.

The medal award ceremony was organised at the Unity Palace. Seven Cameroonians were during the ceremony handed State medals.

Tanyi Nixson, who works at the Ministry of Finance, received the rare State recognition for his meritorious services to the State.

While affixing the medal on Tanyi Nixson, the Minister, Director of the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, congratulated him, before disclosing that the recognition reflects his outstanding contributions and dedication to the State.

Speaking shortly after the medal award ceremony, Tanyi Nixson said he was excited to receive a medal of that magnitude in his 30s.

“This incredible honor is a testament to the power of hard work and dedication. I sincerely thank the Head of State, H.E Paul Biya, for this recognition and my family, mentors, and collaborators for their unwavering support. I usually think the medal of the Knight of the National Order of Valor is meant for people going on retirement. I feel so honoured to receive this medal at this time,” Tanyi disclosed.

He promised to proudly serve and contribute to the growth of the nation.

Beyond his public service role, Tanyi Nixson, it should be said, is a committed philanthropist and community developer.

On February 11 this year, Tanyi donated a radiant warmer (baby incubator), and ten hospital beds to the Ebonji Subdivisional Hospital, CMA to curb infant mortality and death rates in Ebonji and neighbouring villages. The equipment were handed over to the hospital on February 11, 2026, as part of the 60th Youth Day celebrations.

At the ceremony, Tanyi explained that he was motivated to donate the equipment because the hospital's facilities were overwhelmed by the number of patients.

He noted that the growing population of Ebonji and neighboring villages like Etam meant patients were being discharged quickly due to a lack of beds.

Tanyi had lamented that some patients were forced to travel to Tombel, posing a health risk due to the poor road conditions.

"The absence of an incubator put the lives of premature babies at risk," Tanyi said.

"I lobbied for this equipment from the Minister of Public Health through the Director General, DG, of the Douala General Hospital," he disclosed.

Tanyi had promised to continue advocating the well-being of Ebonji residents, before urging the hospital management to make good use of the equipment.

He also called on the population to remain peaceful, united, and law-abiding. The Chief Medical Officer, Dr Epie Frankline Mbibi, thanked Tanyi for the gifts, citing the hospital's challenges, including limited facilities and equipment.

The equipment would improve healthcare services, especially for babies with complicated preterm deliveries, he had said. The Divisional Officer of Tombel, Nyam Leonard, appreciated Tanyi's contribution and encouraged other elite to donate to the health facility.

It should be noted that CMA Ebonji is the lone hospital in Kupe Muanenguba, with a baby warmer (incubator).
