IFA-Cameroun sends out over 400 graduates into labour market.

Officials immortalising event with graduands

Revered vocational training school, Institute of Applied Training of Cameroon, known in French as IFA-Cameroun, has released over 400 graduates into the job market.

This was during the school’s graduation ceremony dubbed IFA-Cam Leaders’ Day.

The ceremony, organised in Yaounde, April 10, was chaired on behalf of the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training by the Centre Regional Delegate of Employment and Vocational Training, Telep Claude Bernard.

It was in the presence of the patron, Senator Francoise Puene; and the First Deputy Yaounde City Mayor.

Speaking during the ceremony, the minister’s representative pointed out that vocational training remains the main pillar of the government’s strategy to combat unemployment.

He noted that the over 400 outgoing students made available to the labour market have been trained in various fields of specialisation, he emphasised that their trainings meet the required standards in vocational training.

He then called on stakeholders of the labour market to open their doors to these young people, who are now wealth creators, to boost their productivity levels.

To the graduands, the Regional Delegate then expressed the warm congratulations of the Minister for Employment and Vocational Training for the hard work they have put in within the different duration of their trainings.

As the minister’s representative saluted the efforts of the institution, which has since inception sent out nearly 4,000 young people into the labour market, he also lauded them for the high integration rate of the graduates which stands at about 95%.

“The public authorities have put in place a whole range of programmes and projects, and I ask that he directs these young people towards all these programmes. Vocational training in the Centre Region is steadily making progress in the fight against unemployment,” he stated.

Culmination of professional journey

According to the Founder and CEO of the IFA-Cameroun Group, Fabrice Dongmo, the ceremony marks the culmination of a professional journey that the students have endured since their first year of training.

He then reminded the graduands that graduation is not the end of the road, but the beginning of a long journey, and as such, they must immediately start looking for opportunities and setting up their own businesses.

Dongmo thanked government for its support and guidance since the creation of the school, which has seen nearly 4,000 students leave his institution into the job market.

He also addressed a message of gratitude to serial businesswoman and senator of the republic, Senator Puene Francoise, for accepting to be the matron of this batch of graduating students and of the school.

As an entrepreneur, her message was very powerful and I believe her words have resonated with our young people today,” Dongmo said

Batch matron hails IFA-Cam

In her message to the graduands, the matron, Senator Puene Francoise, encouraged the young people to keep dreaming and to understand that turning impossibilities into possibilities require hard work, determination and commitment.

“I leave here feeling very satisfied because I have seen these young people’s commitment to success and as their matron, it is my duty to do everything in my power to continue supporting and protecting them,” the senator said.

Pointing out that entrepreneurship is the driving force and the engine of the national economy, she committed to supporting both the students and IFA-Cam in its drive to groom entrepreneurs and solution solvers.

“I would like to salute the gentleman who had this brilliant idea of setting up vocational training, because that is what is lacking in our society today; finding universities that train young people directly for employability. I will do everything in my power to support him through thick and thin, as I have said, in this transformation, in his determination to transform Cameroonian youth,” she committed.

It should be noted that the IFA-Cameroun Group comprises six vocational training schools and institutes, trains medical assistants, beauty professionals, hospitality professionals, drivers, hostesses and professionals in industrial trades.
