Nkambe: Mayor Musa Nfor hailed for constructing bridge linking several neighbourhoods .

The newly constructed bridge linking many quarters

The development-driven Mayor of Nkambe Council in Donga Mantung Division, Musa Shey Nfor, has been hailed by the population of his municipality for constructing a bridge linking several neighbourhoods.

Affectionately called the People’s Mayor, Musa Shey Nfor has again realised another laudable project that has put inhabitants of the municipality in ecstasy.

The construction of a bridge linking several quarters of Nkambe, the population say, is another people-friendly project realised by the Council, under the able leadership of Mayor Musa Shey Nfor, to improve of their living conditions.

The newly constructed bridge, links Malangong, Mbaarung and Lower Njema neighbourhoods.

The bridge is the combined efforts of the Mayor of Nkambe, Musa Shey Nfor, and his team of council executives as well as that of the Member of Parliament for Nkambe, Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard.

The vital infrastructure, officials of Nkambe Council say, will go a long way to ease mobility for inhabitants and improve access to especially the Islamic Primary School in the area.

The bridge, they also added, will open up the important food supply basin of the farms around the area serving an estimated population of close to 5,000 people extending to Upper Moh area.

The bridge project, we gathered, was put initiated by the Nkambe Council to facilitate movements in various quarters of Nkambe that had hitherto been cut off from the main Nkambe town.

The absence of the bridge linking the concerned quarters, we gathered, had also made it difficult for parents to send their children to the Islamic Primary School that was linked by the bridge.

The old bridge that was used by population

A large number of farmers also said to have been using the old bridge before it got bad were said to have difficulty accessing their farms and transporting their produce to the markets.

The population has welcomed the bridge with a lot of joy. They say it makes it easy for them to transport their produce to the market.

The Muslim community in Nkambe, especially, has saluted the construction of the bridge. The Fon of Nkambe, HRM Amidu Nji, who doubles as President of the North West House of Chiefs, has also saluted the move engaged by the council.

The traditional ruler, who himself is a Muslim, had used the Ramadan feats of Muslim to salute the development initiatives of Mayor Musa Shey Nfor and other elite of the municipality.

Aside the bridge, we gathered that Nkambe Council is also at the moment engaged in the construction of modern lockers for market women in Nkambe, who were initially operating under rain and sun.

The move, we gathered, falls within Mayor Musa Shey’s 2026 priority action plan focused on women and youth. The lockers, we gathered, is both for the New and Old markets in the Nkambe municipality.

The mayor is also focusing attention on opening of more roads within the municipality, especially with the coming of the Ring Road.

Execution of projects is not new to Nkambe Council in the restive North West Region, despite security challenges.

On a several occasions, the Council has emerged as the best managed municipality in the entire North West Region as far as project realisations, under the Public Investment Budget, PIB are concerned.

Such positive remarks have repeatedly come from the Donga Mantung Divisional Delegate of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT.
