The Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea, has described the Ex-Saker Students Association, EXSSA, of the Saker Baptist College Limbe, as the benchmark among ex-students associations that are demonstrating exemplary commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of their alma maters.

Governor Naseri made the declaration in Yaounde, last Saturday, January 31, 2026, while opening the 44th Annual General Meeting of the association.

The three-day elective AGM held from Friday, January 30, to Sunday, February 1. It was under the theme: “God of a second chance”.

It assembled EXSSA members from the national territory and representatives from all the chapters, spread across the globe. The major highlight was the election of a new executive bureau of the association.

The bureau is led by the President General, Nkeng Magdelene Bache, who was re-elected for a second three-year mandate.

The AGM was punctuated by cultural activities, a gala night and other indoor and outdoor activities.

Gov’t lauds institution

Speaking while launching the AGM, Governor Naseri said government is pleased with the development strides that EXSSA has made since its creation, more than four decades ago.

He said the groundbreaking achievements, which are mainly centred around promoting the continuous development of the Limbe-based Saker Baptist College, has made EXSSA one of the benchmarks among ex-students associations that are steadily driving national development in line with government’s vision of promoting a collective participation in nation-building.

The Governor cited the association’s involvement in the construction of structures belonging to the Cameroon Baptist Convention, dormitories, refectories and other projects.

“The contribution of Saker Baptist College in the development strides have been recognised by the authorities of this country. And as we all know; government cannot develop all the facets of the nation without our collective participation. The efforts of EXSSA uniting all the forces are very commendable,” he said.

“…EXSSA is not only uniting but also networking, encouraging and empowering its members in order to improve and modernize its alma mater in terms of construction. The handing over of didactic materials to the girls who are still studying and who need to copy and emulate your example of attachment to your roots is vital,” Governor Naseri stated.

More government support

Governor Naseri said the government will continue supporting the structure as part of its efforts in ensuring that the association consolidates the brilliant strides which he said fall in line with the Head of State’s priority centered around women and youth.

“Government is aware of all the efforts and will continue to support and encourage them for the betterment of its citizens, thereby fostering a harmonious and peaceful living together. This is in line with the Head of State’s vision which focuses, as your president said, on youth and women,” he added.
