Ndu: Hon Mbongnyor supports palace projects with 200 bags of cement.

Support being handed to Gidado massacre survivors

Member of Parliament for Ndu Subdivision, in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region, Hon. Mbongnyor Naomi Ngando, has rolled out a series of community support initiatives across her constituency that combine cultural preservation with humanitarian aid to families affected by recent violence.

Her latest actions, carried out over consecutive days in January, involved the distribution of building materials for palace renovations and food supplies to survivors of the January 14 armed attacks in Gidado, Mbandfung.

Cement for Mbipgo Palace

The support exercise began on Wednesday, January 28, with the donation of 100 bags of cement to the Mbipgo Fon’s Palace. The materials were handed over in Mbipgo in the presence of the development chairperson and other community notables, as renovation works were ongoing at the palace.

Receiving the donation, the Fon of Mbipgo expressed gratitude for the support and indicated that the cement would be used for its intended purpose within the palace renovation project. He further stated that the gesture reflected leadership linked to development, while expressing the hope that similar support would continue and encourage contributions from other sources. The Fon further underlined that politics which brings development should be supported.

The distribution exercise continued on Thursday, January 29, with the donation of another 100 bags of cement to the Ndu Fon’s Palace. The Fon of Ndu, while receiving the materials, described the donation as timely, noting that renovation works were already in progress. He welcomed the support and acknowledged her service to the population of her constituency. The Fon further extended goodwill and blessings to the parliamentarian as she continues her mandate within her constituency.

Continuity of palace support

The January donations form part of a longer pattern of assistance to traditional institutions within Ndu Subdivision. Over the years, Honourable Mbongnyor Naomi Ngando has supported renovation and upkeep efforts at several palaces, including those of Ngulu, Nseh Makop, Wowo, Boyar Sub Palace and another sub palace in Mbipgo.

In addition to building materials, the MP has consistently provided livestock support to traditional institutions. During Bfubfu cultural celebrations, she has on various occasions donated a cow to almost all palaces within the Subdivision, contributing to the organisation of the annual cultural event.

Humanitarian aid to survivors in Gidado

Alongside support to traditional authorities, the MP also extended assistance to civilians affected by recent violence in the area. Following the January 14 armed attack in Gidado, Mbandfung, which left over a dozen dead, Hon Mbongnyor Ngando on January 29, donated 20 bags of rice to survivors of the incident.

The food items were handed directly to the affected families in Gidado Mbandfung. Community members present at the distribution expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the assistance came at a time of need for families recovering from the attack.

During the handover, beneficiaries offered prayers for peace to return to the affected communities and expressed the hope that no other family in the region would have to experience a similar incident.

Earlier health sector intervention

The January outreach adds to earlier social interventions carried out by the MP since the start of her mandate. In the early phase of her tenure, Hon. Mbongnyor Ngando supported the Mbipgo Health Centre with the donation of ten mattresses and a generator.

The equipment were intended to improve patient care and ensure continuity of services at the facility, particularly during power outages, contributing to the operational capacity of the health centre.
