Ahead of publication of presidential election results today: PCC Moderator urges Christians to pray for peace, justice….

Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia: Moderator of the PCC

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, Rt Reverend Miki Hans Abia, has invited Christians to pray for justice, peace, goodwill, prosperity as the nation eagerly awaits the results of the October 12 presidential elections today.

The plea is contained in a letter addressed to all pastors of the PCC, Congregations and Chaplaincies, issued by the PCC Moderator on Saturday October 25.

The three-page letter is titled: Special Intercessory prayers for justice, peace, goodwill and non-violence on Sunday October 26, 2025.

In the document, a copy of which The Guardian Post has in its possession, and has thoroughly reviewed, the PCC Moderator enjoined all Pastors and congregations of the PCC, within Cameroon and in the diaspora, to observe a special time of intercessory prayer on Sunday October 26, 2025.

During these special intercessory prayers throughout the national territory and abroad, in first and second services, PCC Christians prayed for justice and integrity, prayer for the nation and its leaders, prayers for national renewal and prayer for peace and God’s presence.

“On the eve of the proclamation of the results, we invite all Presbyterians to pray fervently for justice, peace, goodwill, prosperity and all that strengthens our democracy and rule of law,” a part of the Moderator’s letter read.

The Moderator also wrote that: “As God’s people, let us live peaceably with all, no room to provocation or violence, but trusting always in God’s providence and divine intervention”.

According to experts, the pastoral letter from the PCC Moderator is timely given the current situation in the country.

Since the October 12 presidential poll, tensions flared in several parts of the country including the Centre, Far North, North, Adamawa, and West Regions.

Videos, which The Guardian Post has verified and fact-checked, have been circulating with some residents taking to the streets to protest alleged election fraud and manipulation of the October 12 presidential election results. Security forces responded with heavy presence, dispersing demonstrators and making several arrests.

There are also reports of planned protests tomorrow after the election results are proclaimed by the Constitutional Council. Like the PCC, there have also been growing calls for peace from religious, and traditional authorities, Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, and the government.
