Leading Pan-African financial institution, United Bank for Africa, UBA, has recruited 73 Cameroonians through its Graduate Management Accelerated Programme, GMAP.

Officials of UBA released the figures during a recent ceremony to graduate another cohort of the Bank’s widely acclaimed technical capacity and leadership building programme.

By continuously making use of Cameroonian human resource, officials declared that UBA remains a key partner in promoting youth empowerment. Officials stated that through the transformative programme, the beneficiaries now employed at UBA Cameroon.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, CEO/Managing Director, MD, of UBA Cameroon, Jude Anela, the Bank “…takes great pride in empowering talented young Cameroonians and giving them a platform to grow within a globally respected financial institution”.

He remarked that “This initiative aligns with our vision to promote sustainable employment and leadership development among the youth”.

Speaking at the event, Nweke, a senior executive at UBA, praised the graduates for their perseverance and drive, describing them as “Africa’s next generation of innovators, leaders, and ambassadors of an enduring legacy.”

Nweke stated that the graduation was “…a celebration of potential, perseverance, and purpose”. Nweke added that: “You are not just graduates; you are leaders in the making. Africa’s future will not be shaped by chance, but by capable and courageous individuals like you.”

The Graduate Management Accelerated Programme combines classroom learning, digital simulations, field assignments, and mentorship from senior executives.

Officials said it provided participants with the knowledge and experience to excel in the fast-changing financial services industry.

During the graduation ceremony, other UBA executives celebrated the new cohort of graduates who successfully completed the programme. They emphasized the Bank’s unwavering belief in the power of human capital development to shape the continent’s future.

They said through initiatives like GMAP, UBA Cameroon continues to play a vital role in driving financial inclusion, technological innovation, and youth empowerment. This, they said, demonstrates UBA’s its belief that Africa’s growth depends on its people.

With a presence in 20 African countries as well as in the United Kingdom, United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates, UBA serves over 45 million customers globally.

The bank remains one of Africa’s largest employers, boasting a workforce of more than 25,000 employees across its network.
