Impossible results from NW, SW: We will not accept any insult.

Charles Mambo: Political analyst

Impossible results are being peddled on social media, purportedly from the North West and South West Regions- places ravaged by war, displacement, and trauma, left underdeveloped, where entire communities have been destroyed and countless citizens are willing to express their defiance and ultimate rejection of the CPDM.

Yet, as if by some grotesque miracle, these massive abstentions have been magically transformed into a 100% victory for the outgoing regime.

It is an insult of monumental proportion to the intelligence of the people of the North West and the South West Regions, to claim that they have given more votes to 92-year-old Paul Biya than to any other candidate.

How can one fight a regime of which he is the figurehead, at the cost of one’s life, and then reward it at the cost of one’s vote? How can a people who have bled under his tyranny, who have buried their own under his bullets, suddenly reward their tormentor at the ballot box?

No, no, no- we will not accept the indignity or the callous falsification of results attributed to us from these Regions; not this time around. You must respect our electoral integrity and reveal to the country, and especially to the people from our Regions, the victory of the candidate they bravely voted for.

By every measurable and verifiable account, voters in both the North West and South West Regions gave the Biya regime the electoral equivalent of the middle finger while voting for Issa Tchiroma.

To suggest otherwise is to mock our collective suffering, to spit on our graves, and to trample on the memory of those who have perished in our long quest for fairness, democracy, and an end to this senseless war.

We shall never accept results that portray acquiescence or loyalty to a forty-three-year-old incompetent dictatorship that has kept us as second-class citizens and unleashed a bloody war of attrition upon us when we only dared to express our frustrations peacefully.

We have demonstrated our complete disgust with the regime by rejecting its continued existence in our lives. We have shown, by our dignified mien at the polls and our defiance in spirit, that we reject the CPDM regime in its totality.

It no longer has a place in our lives. It is mathematically, morally, and judiciously impossible for us to remain loyal to a government that has not only plundered our wealth but has destroyed the beautiful future we once envisioned for ourselves and our children.

If the fons and elite from our regions have been bribed with petty gifts and hollow titles of our ancestral lands, selling their souls for personal gain and delivering their people into political slavery, then this time we shall stand firmly on our convictions and prove to them that their time is up. We cannot be used and abused while we still draw breath. They may have outlived their usefulness, if they are incapable of serving the people or representing us as custodians of our sacred traditions and culture. If they have delivered our suffrage to a regime that has kept us in bondage for forty-three years- then lines have been crossed.

We have made our verdict known not through violence but through dignified defiance at the polls. We shall expose their hypocrisy with surgical clarity if they do not stand by the truth and for our rights.

They may have been complicit in a massive fraud that does not reflect the will of the English-speaking man or woman. We know who they are- plague upon their households and their generations, if they are not already cursed to extinction. They know the people rejected the CPDM. Why then do we have results which are fraudulent and not reflective of our regions?

For such an absurdity to be believed, the intelligence and consciousness of an entire population would have to be anaesthetized- or they would have to be treated as children unworthy of reason.

Those results circulating on social media are not, and will never be the true results we can accept from the Anglophone Regions- a people whose bitterness and animus against this corrupt regime have come to define their very existence. We have paid in blood, in tears, and in dignity for our right to reject this tyranny. And reject it, we have.

If they have any vestige of conscience left, they should accept our repudiation of their ninety-two-year-old candidate and the CPDM regime, and publish the correct electoral verdict from the English-speaking regions.

By this declaration, we send an unequivocal message to the corrupt stooges and bullies who pay homage to falsehood- and thank them for their attention to this matter.
