Akwa Stephen Tambu leading campaign caravan on streets of Widikum

The Section President of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, in Widikum, Momo Division of the North West Region, Akwa Stephen Tambu, has mobilised the Subdivision to ensure a landslide victory for President Paul Biya, at next Sunday’s presidential election.
Despite having received threats from separatists in Tiben and Widikum, he braved the odds and led a CPDM campaign caravan in Widikum, on October 5, 2025.

The campaign caravan, which went through several neighbourhoods in Widikum, attracted huge crowds of CPDM supporters, well-wishers, sympathisers and people from all walks of life, who are ready to give the CPDM candidate, President Paul Biya, an overwhelming victory, come Sunday.

Fondly referred to as ‘Atah’ Widikum (which means in English Father of the People of Widikum Subdivision), Akwa Stephen, who has been described as a man of the people, was well received by the traditional rulers of Widikum Subdivision, the Divisional Officer and the forces of law and order; who promised to ensure a peaceful vote on October 12.

The day of the campaign was one of the decisive moments in the political history of Widikum Subdivision. The youth from every clan of the Subdivision joined Akwa Stephen to rally behind President Paul Biya.

Crowds of party supporters, well-wishers and sympathisers, who stood along the streets of Widikum or gathered at every stop of the campaign caravan, chanted songs with some lyrics stating “We love you Atah Widikum”.

The crowds saluted Akwa Stephen for his courage, persistence and consistency in canvasing for votes for the CPDM candidate at the October 12 poll. They also hailed President Paul Biya for keeping his promises to the people of Widikum Subdivision.

It should be noted that the CPDM caravan that zoomed into Widikum came on the heels of another successful campaign, staged by Akwa Stephen, at the Widikum-Bofee Council Hall on Sunday September 28, 2025.

It should be recalled that Akwa Stephen Tambu joined the CPDM party since 1985. A native of Menka clan, he was born and raised in Widikum. For his remarkable contributions to the growth of the CPDM, he was decorated as one of the veteran members of the ruling party, during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the CPDM party, which took place at the Bamenda Congress Hall, in March 2025.

He is credited with having been the one who outwitted the Social Democratic Front, SDF, out of Widikum and has reshaped the political landscape of Widikum, through the CPDM party.

As campaigns negotiate the final bend, the indefatigable politician, Akwa Stephen Tambu, has announced his next agenda, which is to organise a grand rally in Bifang, the most populated village in Widikum Subdivision, on October 10, 2025, and a closing rally in Widikum Centre, to prepare CPDM supporters and voters to give their candidate a 100% vote on October 12.
