October 12 poll: Ngala Gerard rallies Anglophones in Douala for Biya.

Douala-based influential community mobiliser and Member of Parliament, MP, for Nkambe Central Constituency, Donga Mantung Division, Hon Ngala Gerard, has mobilised the Anglophone community in the economic capital to ensure massive victory for incumbent Head of State, President Paul Biya.

This was during a meeting in Douala, Sunday October 5, 2025.  It brought together indigenes of the North West and South West Regions resident in the economic capital.

The Mayor of Douala IV, Dr Hervé Moby Mpah, emphasised the importance of solidarity and unity in ensuring a transparent and inclusive electoral process. Mpah appealed to the Anglophone community in Douala to unite to ensure President Paul Biya gets a 100% victory, come October 12.

Hon Ngala Gerard raised concerns within the Anglophone population, stressing the need to avoid confusion and fake promises that have historically affected the peace and tranquility of the North West and South West Regions.

He recalled that in 2016, many were misled by false pledges from separatist propagandists, resulting in instability and mass exodus to other Regions amongst which Douala is topping the list.

Hon Ngala urged the people of the North West and South West Regions resident in Douala to make a “wise choice,” come October 12, by voting massively for President Biya.

The MP described President Biya as the “architect of peace and national integration,” emphasising the benefits of peace for businesses, education, and community life in Douala.

“The population here, a majority of whom are from the two English-speaking Regions affected by the Anglophone crisis, should not fall victim to false promises again,” Hon Ngala Gerard said, noting that: “We must remain united and vote for the candidate who ensures peace and development for Cameroon”.

The MP said it is important for the people to be educated on the need to stay peaceful and maintain the person in power who can ensure a smooth peaceful transition for Cameroon.

Dr Roger Mbassa Ndine, City Mayor of Douala, reinforced the call with a focus on peace and development. He urged the Anglophone community to view Douala as their second home and to actively contribute to its development while maintaining harmony.

The City Mayor stressed that President Paul Biya’s leadership over the past 40 years has been instrumental in preserving national peace. He argued that piece is essential for the continued growth of Douala as a commercial and educational hub.

On his part, Fon Ju Wilson of Koshing village, in Menchum Division of the North West Region, told the population that peace is a prerequisite for development and that President Paul Biya is uniquely positioned to deliver both. The event concluded with cultural performances.

Hon Ngala Gerard: Foremost peace crusader, indefatigable national unity champion

The respected grassroots politician, community mobiliser and inspiring national unity champion, it should be recalled, had on September 14, 2025, wrote his name in gold in his actions geared towards strengthening the bonds of national unity, peaceful coexistence, love and solidarity among compatriots, especially during the electoral period.

The business mogul had rallied thousands of Northwesterners resident in Douala and its environs, to seal what was described as a historic peace pact with the Ngondo community in Douala.

This was during the 'Ngondo Caravan for Peace' which took place at the Din Same Esplanade in Bonassama, Douala IV Subdivision.

Ngala and the huge crowd of Northwesterners resolved to synergise efforts with them to preserve peace before, during and after the October 12 presidential election.

Hon Ngala Gerard re-echoed the stand of the North West Region community in Douala for peaceful coexistence and national unity.

He was categorical that the people of the North West Region resident in Douala and its environs, will not fall prey to the plans of doomsayers plotting violence during and after the October 12 presidential election.

“The presidential election is around the corner, on October 12. History reminds us that some adventurers in the name of politics, have often tried to use Douala as fertile ground for violence and civil disobedience, aimed at undermining public peace. The memories of 2008 remain vivid. Today, I plead with you: let us not be counted among those who betray their hosts or associate with forces of destruction. Instead, let us stand for peace, before, during, and after the October 12, 2025 elections,” Hon Ngala had stated.

The peace crusader was firm that “Cameroon and Douala in particular, are our collective heritage”, insisting that “preserving it is our collective responsibility”.

Hon Ngala had also expressed gratitude to the Ngondo community for their incomparable and legendary hospitality to the people of the North West Region.

“Douala and its environs today shelter over 500,000 Northwesterners,” he had disclosed.
