Race to Etoudi: Espoir Matomba canvasses for votes in East Region.

The presidential candidate of the United People for Social Renovation, PURS, Serge Espoir Matomba, officially launched his campaign in the East Region. This was during a mega meeting in Bertoua on Friday, October 3.



The event, held at the divisional stadium esplanade at the Mokolo I junction. The event was marked by the arrival of the PURS candidate in the regional capital, seeking to rally support ahead of Sunday’s voting.

Before his arrival in Bertoua, Matomba had also made stops in Boumnyebel and Matomb, to deliver his message of a political break with the past. Addressing members of the public who came out to meet him, Matomba stated that "every voice counts, every step brings us closer to victory".

The political meeting in Bertoua began at nightfall with Serge Espoir Matomba’s entrance into the stadium, where a considerable crowd of supporters, members, and sympathisers greeted him. 

The atmosphere in the city was one of great excitement, featuring enthusiastic shouts, songs, and slogans as the population expressed support for the candidate.

Addressing the crowd, the PURS candidate raised his fist and reaffirmed his commitment to championing the concerns of the youth, whom he stated, are dissatisfied with the current regime.

“Cameroon belongs to us, let us revive it together...,” Matomba declared.

He further reiterated his party's core message of unity, sovereignty, and liberty, which he said had resonated widely. 

“We are staying on the course. We are keeping hope. Together, victory is certain,” Matomba declared.

According to supporters of the party in Bertoua, their expectation is to see Matomba elevate the standing of the East Region and that of Cameroon if voted into office come October 12. The PURS campaign is framed around the slogan: “Time Don Reach! Cameroon First”.
