Hon Cabral Libii takes campaign to Bamenda despite lockdown.

Hon Cabral Libii on the streets of Bamenda

Member of Parliament and flagbearer of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation, PCRN, Hon Cabral Libii, took his campaign rally to Bamenda, chief town of the North West Region on Thursday, October 2.

Despite the challenging securing situation of the region, which is facing a separatists-imposed lockdown, the young politician, with his team, still braved the odds to meet with the population in Bamenda.

Accompanied by the North West Regional Coordinator of PCRN, Barrister Tamfu Richard, and other members of the party, the team was welcomed at Matazem in Santa Subdivision, before proceeding to Bamenda.

While in Bamenda, Hon Cabral Libii and his team toured the streets of the town, notably major areas like Mobile Nkwen, before assembling at the Commercial Avenue grandstand.

Plans to solve Anglophone conflict

Hon Libii, in his speech to the population, pledged to prioritise an inclusive dialogue as the only way to resolve the long-standing Anglophone conflict.

Speaking to the crowd, Libii noted the importance of peace negotiations in ending conflicts worldwide, stressing that Cameroon’s nine-year sociopolitical turmoil could only be brought to a close through genuine dialogue.

“I am convinced that nobody has a miracle solution to end the war, but I also know that everywhere in the world, all wars come to an end through peace agreements,” Libii told the audience.

The presidential candidate for the PCRN party further explained that if bringing the presidency to Bamenda will end the conflict, then he is ready to do so.

“Even if it will be necessary to delocalise the presidency to come here, I will do it,” he stated.

Libii explained that these, along with other planned reforms, aim to foster peace, unity, and balanced development across the country.

By decentralising governance, he said his hope is to build trust in the government and spur equitable progress throughout all regions, particularly in the Anglophone areas deeply affected by the crisis.
