At campaign in Obala: Kwemo vows to reduce fuel prices, tackle hardship.

The candidate of the Union of Socialist Movements, UMS party, in the October 12 presidential election, Hon Pierre Kwemo, has vowed to cut down fuel prices, tackle economic hardship and other challenges that Cameroonians are facing if elected Head of State.

He made the declaration in Obala, Lekie Division of the Centre Region on Tuesday, September 30, as his continued with ongoing campaigns upcoming election.

The Obala gathering marked the UMS leader’s second outing since the campaign window opened on September 27. He officially launched his campaign in Penja in the Moungo Division of the Littoral Region on Sunday, September 28.

Speaking to potential voters in Obala, Hon Kwemo said he completely understands their challenges. Kwemo cited what he described as the dire economic hardship, poor infrastructure and the disturbing lack of water and energy resources that the population deals with on a daily basis.

He told the population that if elected, he will bring lasting solutions to all the problems by making socialist reforms that meet their needs, especially reducing prices of fuel and other petroleum products from over 800 FCFA for a liter of Super and gasoline, to less than 500 FCFA.

The candidate referenced neighbouring Chad and Nigeria as exemplary nations where petroleum products have been made more affordable to better the lives of citizens.

“In next door Chad, a liter of Super costs 500 FCFA. In Nigeria, a liter of petrol costs 300 FCFA. I can promise you that when Pierre Kwemo will become president, we will do everything possible to ensure that a liter of fuel costs less than 500 FCFA,” the candidate told the thousands of UMS supporters and sympathizers who attended the event at the Obala ceremonial ground.

He regretted that Obala, a historic town, is today a shadow of itself with no road, water, electricity and skyrocketing cost of living.

“Those are the reasons why I am a candidate for the 2025 Presidential Election to solve all the problems,” the UMS leader added amid loud cheers from the militants and sympathizers.

Bid to revive historic Obala team, Tarzan FC

Asides the promises of addressing issues of economic hardship, Hon Kwemo also touched on social aspects of the people of Obala.

The acclaimed sports promoter, particularly vowed to ensure that historic social institutions in Obala like the town’s historic football club, Tarzan Football Club of Obala are revived.

“You all know that I am also into the football sector. Tarzan Obala is a big football club. It used to animate the town. But it is now a shadow of itself,” the candidate who is the President of 2015 Cup of Cameroon champions and 2019 Elite One championship winners, UMS of Loum, stated about the prominent Obala club.

He touched on the need to put in place a befitting system that fully revives the outfit which now competes in the Centre Regional football Championship and other similar historic bodies that made the transit Centre Region locality a referenced town in the country.

Hon Kwemo has made stop overs in the three Northern regions, the East and Adamawa regions since the pre-campaign and campaign window opened. He is expected to continue his campaign tour in other parts of the country in the days ahead.
