Members of the Board of Directors of the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation, CAMWATER, have commended the management of the institution for the strides made so far in easing access to potable water supply to households nationwide.

The positive remarks were made at the 56th session of CAMWATER’s Board of Directors Meeting, which held in Yaounde on Friday, September 5, 2025.

The meeting was chaired by CAMWATER Board Chair, Akwa Patrick Kum Bong. It brought together top management officials, including the Director General of CAMWATER, Dr Blaise Moussa, and his Deputy, Jocelyne Alice Njiki épse Mine.

Also in attendance were directors representing sectoral administrations and CAMWATER staff.

The meeting was used to take stock of the company’s ongoing projects, with particular attention to expanding household connections and improving service delivery nationwide.

During the meeting, directors of the various administrations took time to give a comprehensive review of the progress made in implementing the company’s ambitious campaign to provide 200,000 new household connections.

In his address, CAMWATER Board Chair, Akwa Patrick Kum Bong, commended management for living up to expectations and the Head of State’s firm directives.

The Board urged the team to accelerate the implementation of ongoing projects to meet the corporation’s targets.

The 56th session ended with a call for continued collaboration between CAMWATER, partner administrations, and local communities to ensure the successful completion of ongoing projects.

According to preliminary figures presented, thousands of households have already been connected since January 2025, with work advancing steadily in major cities and peri-urban areas.

They noted that infrastructure upgrades are also underway to meet rising demand and ensure more reliable access to drinking water.

Apart from the physical connections, CAMWATER’s management, during the session, also emphasised on the fact that reforms aimed at streamlining operations would be put in place to better their services.

New initiatives, we gathered, are equally being developed to simplify administrative and commercial procedures, thereby reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks that have delayed customer service.

Officials explained that the reforms are designed to cut waiting times for new connections and improve overall client satisfaction.

The Board also assessed progress in other ongoing projects, including rehabilitation of aging water supply infrastructure, extension of networks in underserved zones, and the modernisation of monitoring systems.

The efforts are expected to boost efficiency in distribution and guarantee the sustainability of water supply services across the country.

The Director General, Dr Blaise Moussa, equally reaffirmed CAMWATER’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate of ensuring universal access to potable water, highlighting that the current projects are aligned with government’s priorities in the water sector.
