NW WCPDM offers scholarship to meritorious students, didactics to learners.

Women of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, WCPDM, in the North West, have offered scholarships to over 28 meritorious students from the seven Divisions of the Region. 

They also donated hundreds of didactics such as bags, books, pens, pencils and rulers to some parents of the Region to assist them send their children back to school.



The scholarship award and donation of school needs, worth 15 million FCFA, took place in Bamenda on Saturday, September 6, 2025. This was during the WCPDM North West Congress.

The Interim Head of the CPDM Permanent Delegation for the North West Region, Senator Regina Mundi, Section Presidents of the WCPDM in all seven Divisions of the North West Region, party supporters, beneficiaries and other officials, lived the ceremony. 

The governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, also attended the ceremony. 

In her welcome statement, WCPDM Mezam 1B Section President, Gladys Lum, urged the women to come together and overcome all the challenges in their constituencies. She also called on them to strategise in order to help the CPDM maintain its position as the ruling party.

The donations, they said, is an initiative of WCPDM in the North West Region, to also call for an effective resumption of classes. The event was also a ceremony for the women to preach the need for peace as schools resume today all over the national territory. 

Of the 28 students awarded scholarships, four were selected from each of the seven Divisions in the North West Region. 

They were selected from grammar, technical, and vocational education sections. The beneficiaries had exceptional results during the 2025 GCE Ordinary Level.

Senator Mundi drums peace 

While officially handing the scholarship and didactic materials to the students and their parents, Senator Regina Mundi urged the population to remain peaceful. She said in the absence of peace in the society, women suffer the most. 

Senator Mundi challenged all the women in the North West Region to remain peaceful. 

She said the scholarship and donation of school needs were the initiative of the WCPDM of the North West Region, to encourage education and support to women and parents. 

“This shows the interest that we have for education in the Region. It is to encourage mothers to have these school materials for their children. We are encouraging education as always because the power of education cannot be underestimated. We need to be empowered, because when you are empowered, there are so many things that you can do to transform society, and this is what we are hoping,” Senator Mundi said.

The lawmaker and ace politician urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items, work hard and excel. 

She told beneficiaries that it is only through education that they can become responsible citizens of the Region tomorrow. 

“We are calling on them to work very hard. We are supporting them to excel in whatever they are studying because as I said, education is the greatest weapon that one can use to build a better society. So, we are encouraging them to work very hard in school and excel,” Senator Mundi told the learners.

 

Unite behind Biya for victory 

In a message to CPDM supporters and the population, Senator Regina Mundi urged the women to come together and give President Paul Biya a resounding victory during the upcoming presidential election. 

“…for us to secure victory for President Paul Biya in the upcoming election, we must be one. We have to work for unity, peace and victory,” Senator Mundi said.

The initiative ended with the reading of a motion of support by Senator Fontama Hilda, to President Paul Biya, wherein the women of the North West Region promised to give President Biya 100% vote in the October 12 poll.
