London: Senator Nfon Mukete recognised for int’l business acumen, leadership flair.

The Paramount ruler of the Bafaw and King of Kumba, Meme Division of the South West Region, Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, has received an international honour for his international business perspicacity and leadership aptitude.



The recognition in honour of the revered monarch and international business heavyweight is the prestigious Gordonstoun Fellowship. It was handed to him at the Caledonian Club in Belgaria Victoria, London, United Kingdom recently. 

Accompanying the Nfon to receive the recognition was his charming wife and other members of his entourage.

Reacting to the recognition, the British High Commission in Cameroon wrote on its official X formerly Twitter handle congratulating the King for earning the high honour. 

“Hearty congratulations to HRM Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, on being awarded the prestigious Gordonstoun Fellowship,” the High Commission wrote, before affirming the Nfon’s international business clout and leadership elegance.

The diplomatic representation added that the latest recognition, which adds to several others that have been conferred on the Monarch, is in recognition of his exploits globally in business, modernising leadership as a King among others. 

“This recognition highlights his exceptional international business acumen and transformative leadership in modernising tribal rule in Cameroon”, the statement read.

One of the King’s subjects, Martin Elonge further hailed the traditional ruler for reaching another milestone in terms of recognition. He qualified the latest development in honour of the traditional ruler as “tremendous achievement.”

On his part, the British Higher Commissioner to Cameroon who is also  non-resident Ambassador to  Equatorial Guinea, congratulated Nfon Mukete IV. “Delighted to see this…you have done so much to deepen Cameroon-UK relations,” the diplomat wrote on X.

 

For the records

He is a rare breed in the business world. Nfon Mukete IV worked his way to the centre of business and investments across Cameroon, Africa and the world, after acquiring sound education.

Despite being from the wealthy Mukete dynasty, he tasted success based on his business acumen that has also opened doors for hundreds of orders. 

Besides being a serial investor with interest across the globe, his presence and positive impact in the Cameroonian business environment cannot be denied.

He returned to Cameroon after his education abroad and ventured straight into the private sector. Nfon Mukete IV is Vice President of the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce Industries, Mines and Crafts, CCIMA.

 The First-Class traditional ruler is also Honorary Turkish Consul in Cameroon and non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Australian mining giant, Canyon Resources. He served for 13 uninterrupted years as Chairman of the Board of Director of the United Bank for Africa, UBA, Cameroon.

He also sits on the Board of the Investment Promotion Agency, IPA. Nfon Mukete is also Senior Advisor of Globeleq Cameroon, which runs the Bibamba Power Company, and the Kribi Power Company. Both plants are responsible for at least 30 percent of electricity supply in Cameroon.

These portfolios of his are saturated with huge investments in several countries that are powering growth and development. Beyond these, Nfon Mukete IV as successor of his father, the late Statesman, Nfon V. E Mukete, is also overseeing the Mukete Estates that offers employment to thousands of citizens.

When it comes to strategic business partnerships, investments and resource mobilisation that drive growth, this accomplished banker, business executive, serial entrepreneur and revered traditional ruler, stands out.
