His Majesty Nofuruh: SWECC Finance Secretary

The Financial Secretary of the South West Chiefs Conference, SWECC, His Majesty Nofuruh Ivens Disombe, has showered praises on the Head of State, Paul Biya, for his generosity towards cocoa farmers in the South West Region.

Chief Nofuruh who is the traditional ruler of Nake Boko Chiefdom in Mbonge Subdivision, Meme Division, expressed the gratitude in a recent letter addressed to President Biya.

In the piece, a copy of which The Guardian Post has seen, the monarch  said he is pleased with the Head of State for the offer of over 406 million FCFA to cocoa farmers across the South West Region.

His reaction follows the August 28 handing of the money which is premium to cocoa farmers during an event in Buea.

The Minister of Trade, Luc Malgoire Mbarga Atangana, presided the ceremony. He said the money shared through the “Paul Biya Cocoa Quality Premium” speaks volume.

Chief Nofuruh wrote in his piece to Biya that in his capacity of SWECC Financial Secretary, “I wish to express our profound gratitude and unwavering support to the Head of State, His Excellency President Paul Biya”.

The cocoa premium from the Head of State for the benefit of 5,000 cocoa producers, His Majesty Nofuruh underscored, “is a landmark gesture”.

He affirmed that: “It will not only enable farmers to secure much needed farm inputs but will also assist countless households in preparing their children for the new school year”.

Beyond the donation to farmers, Chief Nufuru also thanked the Head of State for ongoing works on National Road No.16 which is Kumba-Ekondo-Titi axis.

While observing that: “Though progress has been gradual”, the royal father reiterated that, the project, “remains a significant development effort for which we extend our sincere appreciation”.

Assures Biya of massive support

Talking about his community Nake Bokoko, Chief Nofuruh stated that, blessings from the Head of State’s leadership are visible.

He cited recent gains from the Islamic Development Bank, IsDB-financed   Agriculture Infrastructure and Value Chain Development Project, AIVDP.

Thanks to the project, he expressed joy that Nake Bokoko has benefitted two solar cocoa dryers, a village bank and a fermentation boxes for cocoa farmers.

Inferring from the above among others, he said President Biya can be sure of massive support and voting in his favour in the October 12 presidential election.

“…I hereby reaffirm our unflinching support and total commitment to His Excellency, President Paul Biya,” he remarked, reiterating that he “can count on our wholehearted mobilization and our 100% vote of confidence come 12th October”.

To recall that His Majesty Nofuruh has throughout the crisis in the English-speaking Regions been a key advocate of peace.

He has worked relentlessly in convincing youths who were misled to take up arms against the state to yield to President Biya’s peace message.

Many of such youths, are now thanks to his grassroots works, undergoing training and rehabilitation and the DDR centre in Buea.
