Fako: Nalova Lyonga lays groundwork for Biya's landslide victory.

Minister Nalova Lyonga & other party officials during Limbe meeting

The Minister of Secondary Education, Prof Nalova Lyonga, who doubles as the Head of the Central Committee of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, Permanent Divisional Delegation for Fako, has led other members of the party to raise the whopping sum of 38 million FCFA to support President Biya re-election bid.

The colossal amount of money was raised Saturday August 30 in the seaside resort city of Limbe, Fako Division of the South West Region. The funds were collected during strategic meeting held in the city.

The meeting attended by CPDM party bigwigs as well as grassroots supporters was chaired by Minister Nalova Lyonga who was recently installed as CPDM Permanent Delegation Head for Fako Division.

Held under the theme: “Harnessing local resources and energising grassroots engagement”, it brought together party leaders and stakeholders to strengthen unity and prepare for the October 12 presidential election.

Speakers at the Limbe event had particularly emphasised the need for grassroots mobilisation ahead of the crucial presidential election in which the candidate of the CPDM will be challenged by 11 other contestants.

It was revealed that the funds raised will help empower CPDM sub-sections in Fako better prepare for Biya’s victory for October 12 poll. The Limbe meeting focused on strategies to ensure landslide victory for the CPDM in Fako.

Minister Prof Nalova who spoke at length during the Limbe gathering, encouraged CPDM supporters of Fako to remain united, committed to local leadership and community development.

The member of government had also urged CPDM party followers to work together for sustainable community development in the division.

Meanwhile, discussions at the Limbe get-together focused on mobilization of local resources to ensure a peaceful and democratic electoral process in the area.

CPDM stakeholders at the rally were unanimous in their resolve to work for the victory of their candidate.

The various CPDM officials through speeches, underscored the party's commitment to ensuring a prosperous future for Fako and actively participating in the upcoming election.

Commenting on the financial mobilization at the close of the meeting, Professor Lyonga expressed satisfaction but was quick to note that much is left to be done. The revered university don said more resources were needed to ensure victory for the CPDM in Fako.

“Thank you so much for this reaction, but you know that when it comes to election, FCFA 38 million is too small. We are going to share and we must have enough in our coffers to share so that every subsection has money to take them to where they ought to go,” Prof Nalova Lyonga told attendees at the gathering.

She told CPDM party stakeholders that Saturday, October 4, 2025 is the deadline for contribution.

“Continue to live safe, stay away from violent people, work hand-in-hand with the forces of Law and order,” Nalova Lyonga added.

Meanwhile, CPDM members at the meeting had pledged support to the party’s mobilisation efforts, reinforcing the message that together, Fako can ensure a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic election process.

Speaking at the meeting, the Mayor of Tiko, HRM Peter Ikome Mesoso II, emphasised that party supporters who will be sent to campaign for candidate Biya should speak in the language which best suits the people.

Fako Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, Engelbert Viang Mekala, who made a brief stop at the event ground, advised Fako CPDM officials to inform registered supporters to endeavour to collect their cards at ELECAM offices in the division.

The fundraising in Limbe, came the same day CPDM supporters from the North West Region had organised a similar drive to support the re-election bid of candidate Biya.

During the Yaounde fundraiser, over 250 million FCFA was collected for that purpose.

Those who generously contributed during the Yaounde fundraising included Minister Fuh Calistus Gentry, Douala Port Authority Chairman, Shey Jones Yembe, Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL GM, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi and prominent businessman, Ntum-kwifon Che Linidolf.
