Bigwigs and grassroots supporters of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, in Momo Division of the North West Region have assessed the road covered, and re-strategised to ensure victory for their candidate, Paul Biya.

This was during a stock-taking meeting, which brought together all five sections of the CPDM party in Momo Division. The meeting, which took place on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Bamenda, was chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Supreme State Audit who doubles as Head of the CPDM Central Committee Permanent Divisional Delegation for Momo, Mbah Acha Rose Fomundam.

All Section Presidents of all five Subdivisions in Momo; Mbengwi, Batibo, Njikwa, Ngie, and Widikum, attended the political meeting. Also present were Members of Parliament, Mayors of all the five councils, which are currently under the party, councillors, traditional rulers and others.

Minister Mbah Acha said the come-together was an avenue to do finishing works, before the presidential election comes up in about a month.

All five section presidents presented brief statistics on the number of registered voters, and also on various activities they have been involved in to win more votes for the ruling party.

Statistics from ELECAM

During the stock-taking meeting, official statistics on the number of polling centres, and registered voters were presented to Justice Mbah Acha Rose and her team.

According to the statistics presented, over 14,336 have registered in Widikum, 12,243 in Batibo, 17,625 in Njikwa, 5,052 in Ngie and over 6,154 in Mbengwi. Concerning polling centers, it was revealed that a total of 14 have been established in the entire Division.

In response, Minister Mbah Acha Rose praised the work being done by the section presidents and Mayors. She also urged them to double their efforts, as they prepare for campaigns.

On their part, Members of Parliament also saluted the work being done in the communities.

According to the Member of Parliament for Momo West, Hon Awuta Philip, a victory in the presidential election will eventually pave the way for a smooth victory in the municipal election and parliamentary elections.

On her part, the Member of Parliament for Momo East, Hon Injoh Prudencia, urged the section presidents, mayors, traditional leaders and parents to work hand-in-hand for effective school resumption in the Division.

Enter Minister Mbah Acha

In her keynote address, Minister Mbah Acha expressed satisfaction that the CPDM swept all the seats from MPs, Senators to Mayors in Momo Division.

Concerning complaints on poor roads and electricity in the Division, Minister Mbah Acha reminded the population that she has been working hard to improve on the situations.

“I am proud that I can still count on my militants. They are working hard, that’s why other militants from other parties are joining us. I have made them to understand that we should be proud of our party. Momo would have been on the top in terms of development, if there was no crisis, but all the same, we are moving on,” Mbah Acha said.

SDF supporters join CPDM

The event ended in celebration, following the resignation of Ekanya Francis Mbuta, District Chairman of the SDF party for Njikwa, joining the CPDM. Ekanya was presented with four other new militants, three from his camp and one who just returned from the United Kingdom.

In his resignation letter and in an interview, the former district chairman of the SDF for Njikwa, who has been in the party for over five years and was list leader in the 2020 municipal election, cited frustration in the SDF.

“There have been a lot of frustration because we didn’t realise what was expected. There is no coordination and lack of leadership in the party,” Ekanya said.

He went ahead to cite the manifesto and messages of peace from the CPDM as pertinent things that convinced him to join the party.

While welcoming the new militants, Minister Mbah Acha promised them better days in the party. She immediately handed party uniforms to them, as she welcomed them into the CPDM.

“We are thanking our brothers and sister for taking the right decision to join the winning team, CPDM. We want to tell them that t will never regret. And forever and ever you will go forward. We reap fruits here. This is our time to shine, and we say forward ever, backward never. If you check within the last past five years, we have done a lot in Momo, which the previous party could not do for over twenty years,” Mbah Acha stated.
