Minister urges Garoua varsity graduates to be job creators.

Graduating students, officials during ceremony

The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, has called on graduates of the University of Maroua, UMa, to become job creators and not job seekers.

He made the call during a ceremony to officially graduate over 1,300 students from various Faculties and Schools of the university.

Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo emphasised the importance of developing versatile skills to enhance their employability.

"It's time to move beyond seeking employment in only particular regions. We need graduates who are versatile and innovative. We want to see founders, creators, and entrepreneurs," he said.

The graduates, officials noted, were drawn from the Faculty of Law and Political Science, Faculty of Economics and Management, and National Advanced School of Engineering, ENSPM.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and hope as the students received their end of course attestations. Many of the graduates expressed said they are upbeat and ready to face the challenges of the job market.

One of them, Adamou Sanda, a graduate from the Department of Agriculture in ENSPM, told The Guardian Post that: "I have plans to produce bio-pesticides and supply them to organisations, contributing to the development of the agricultural sector".

The University of Maroua has produced over 30,000 graduates since its creation in 2008. A representative of the graduates said at the event that, as  they journey into the job market, they are more than ready to positively  contribute to the growth and development of  Cameroon.
