Akere Muna addressing reporters after meeting

Barrister Akere Muna has rallied support in Tombel, Kupe Muanenguba Division of the South West Region, as he continues to build momentum for this year's presidential election, come October.

The presidential aspirant was in Tombel last Saturday, May 24.

He held discussions with locals who turned up at a meeting in the cosmopolitan locality, marking his vision for the country.

Akere led a delegation of other political leaders, who have so far endorsed his quest to run for this year’s presidential election.

Among them was Njang Denis, National President of the Popular Action Party, PAP and Pierre Baleguel Nkot, Secretary General of the Union des Population du Cameroun, UPC, party.

Supporters of PAP in Tombel and the population attended the meeting.

Akere Muna emerged from the meeting, telling reporters that Tombel is ready for a new Republic.

“This visit reinforced my belief in the resilience and determination of Tombel’s people. Together, we are paving the way for progress and renewal,” he stated.

He saluted the resilience of the people of Tombel and its history, noting that Tombel “holds a special place in my heart”.

Akere, who is leader of the Now Movement, decried what he said is the terrible state of the road between Tombel and Loum, in Moungo Division of the Littoral Region.

He said his experience on the eight-kilometre stretch was swallowed due to the number of people who turned out to welcome him to Tombel.

Since declaring his intention for this year’s presidential poll, Akere Muna and his team have been making several rounds across the country. Most of his outings have been at the base to engage with people and share his vision for the country. He has made several of such visits to major fiefs of the UPC party in the Centre Region. Akere has also engaged several stakeholders in Douala, Yaounde and other parts of the country.
