Retired administrator, Robert Kona, who is one of the founding fathers of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation, PCRN, has suffered another defeat in court against the party’s National President, Hon Cabral Libii.

His latest defeat at the court was pronounced on September 25.

It is the Far North Court of Appeal in Maroua that ruled that Kona has no right to claim the leadership of the PCRN or represent it in any capacity.

The court is also said to have ruled, ordering Kona to stay away from impersonating the PCRN. The court, reports hold, also established that there is nothing within the statutes of the PCRN relating to founding fathers.

The ruling comes weeks after Robert Kona also lost the same battle at the level of the Kaélé Court of First Instance. The lower court had in its ruling validated the 2019 Guidiguis congress of the PCRN during which Hon Cabral Libii was voted leader of the opposition party.

The court also ordered Robert Kona to pay the costs of legal proceedings to Barrister Renė Roger Bebe. Barrister Bebe, counsel for the PCRN, who has been representing the party in the different court cases is also one of the national vice presidents of the party.

Speaking in a recent interview granted French television channel, TV5Monde, Hon Cabral Libii expressed cautious optimism after the Kaélé court decision earlier in September, hinting that the legal battles might soon be behind him.

He remarked that: “We have faced incredible persecution, and we hope it will finally stop”.

Despite these successive legal defeats, Robert Kona’s camp, according to sources, has remained defiant. Kona is said to be preparing another court case to press for what he claims is a campaign to recapture the leadership of the PCRN.
