NW House of Chiefs crusades effective schooling.

Fon Yakum Kevin Teuvih: NW House of Chiefs President

The President of the North West House of Chiefs, Fon Yakum Kevin Teuvih, has urged traditional rulers in the Region to add their voices and call for effective schooling within their communities.

Fon Yakum Teuvih’s call is contained in a release he issued on Sunday, September 8, to drum the need for learners in the Region to be allowed to freely resume classes.

In the release, the traditional ruler, who doubles as the Vice President of the North West Regional Assembly, extended his blessings to the population for the new academic year.

He said the school resumption period signifies “hope, opportunity and the undeniable power of education to uplift and transform our communities”.

He insisted that it is only through education that “we can secure a brighter future for our children, our villages, and our Region as a whole”.

Fons should crusade schooling

Turning to his peers of the Region, the President of the North West House of Chiefs appealed to them to call for effective classes within their communities.

“…I call on you to be ambassadors of this message. Your influence and leadership remain pillars of our cultural heritage. I implore each of you to relay this message within your respective fondoms, encouraging our populations to prioritise education and ensure every child is back in school, eager to learn,” he appealed.

The North West House of Chiefs President who also doubles as Fon of Bambalang, extended a “special plea to all stakeholders, government officials, traditional, religious and civil society leaders, to unite in our collective efforts to provide a conducive atmosphere for learning”.

He said: “To together, we can build strong and resilient communities, through education; where peace, knowledge and development will thrive”.

“Let us join hands as we embark on this academic journey, with the firm belief that through unity and determination, the North West Region will rise, and the dreams of our children will become a reality,” he further appealed.

He re-echoed that education is not only the foundation for personal growth but the “cornerstone for the sustainable development of our beloved North West Region”.

In this regard, he appealed to “parents, teachers, students and all educational stakeholders in the Region to commit to making this academic year successful,” albeit security challenges.

“Let us foster environments where our children feel safe, motivated and equipped to achieve their full potential,” he appealed.

His appeal for children in the Region to be allowed to freely resume school, comes after similar calls from the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon, the US Embassy in Cameroon, and many others.
