Author uses CNPS Literary Café to drum patriotic values among youths.

Minister Momo speaking at the Literary Café

Author, Jean de Dieu Moмo, who was guest at this year’s edition of the National Social Insurance Fund, CNPS, Literary Café, has urged young people to uphold values that promote patriotism and contribute to national development.

He made the call September 4. This was during this year’s edition of the CNPS Literary Café that took place at the company’s headquarters in Yaounde.

Jean de Dieu Momo pointed out that his message is the central theme that cuts across three of his books. These are; Le Témoin Du ( The President’s Witness) Président, De L’union Pour Le Changement À L’unité Par Le Rassemblement (From Union for Change to Unity through Together, The  President) and De la Démocratie récréative (Democracy in Recreation)

He revealed that the goal of his books is to change ideologies and influence behaviours, so as to create positive impact and change in the society.

“As a Cameroonian, I wrote these books for Cameroonians in particular but with the hope that its impact can be widespread and transcend our borders, Momo said, adding that: “Cameroon being a cultural mosaic has to define its own principles and democracy away from western values that were brought to us”.

He added that the ideologies in his books can also be useful to other African countries that all share a similar colonial history with that of Cameroon.

Momo in his book “De la Démocratie recreative”, roughly translated as Democracy in Recreation, talks of his transition from a political opponent governed by the convictions of western enlightenment, to a pan-Africanist political activist, guided by nationalism and communal liberalism.

Present at the ceremony were: the Director General of CNPS, Noel Alain Mekulu Mvondo, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona; the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, Joseph Le as well as businesswoman and Senator, François Puene.

About CNPS Literary Café

The exercise is a vision of the CNPS under the leadership of Noel Alain Mekulu Mvondo-led management to promote Cameroonian culture.  Mekulu Mvondo in his capacity of Director General of CNPS has repeatedly insisted that as a citizen company, the institution remains committed to contributing to the sociocultural development of Cameroon.

Mekulu has in addition to CNPS’ attachment to promote the reading culture set up a library at its Yaounde head office.

Through such initiatives, he beliefs Cameroonians, CNPS staff and their kids can develop culturally and intellectually. The innovation has remained consistent since it saw the light of day a few years ago.
