Organisation to hold maiden edition of National Teachers Award.

Kohtem Princewil Sambit: Executive Director of Build Ensemble

Founding members of a non-profit organisation, Build Ensemble, created with the mission to fostering unity, lead educational transformation and advocate a technologically-driven economy, have announced their intentions to reward extraordinary teachers.

This will be at the maiden edition of the National Educators Award. The information was made public by the organisation's Executive Director, Kohtem Princewil Sambit, in a recent communique.

Kohtem, in the communique, noted that the award is in recognition of the extraordinary contributions of teachers in shaping the future of Cameroon.

"This prestigious programme aims to hon- our and celebrate the remarkable educators who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, communication, creativity, innovation, flexibility, lifelong learning, work ethic, social responsibility, and unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds," he said.

Teachers who are laureates could to win the sum of 1,000,000 FCFA. However, to stand the chance, they are to be nominated and voted by their students.

"Nominations are done by students from public secondary schools in Cameroon. They must designate among their teachers those who they think have best taught them. The programme aims to collect at least five profiles of teachers from each region of the country," the organisers said.

In order to submit their applications for nominees or vote, students have been called upon to login to the online portal of Build Ensemble and vote for their favourite teacher by typing #BuildEnsemble TeachersAwards by December 21, 2024. The date for the award ceremony, will be announced subsequently.

It should be noted that since Build Ensemble was legalised in 2021, the team of young Cameroonians, under the leadership of Kohtem Princewil, have worked to further pro- mote the teaching profession in Cameroon with the goal of empowering Africa through unity, education, and civic engagement.

"We passionately advocate a United African States led by Africans, built on an African-led model through shared prosperity," they stated.

By recognising the transformative power of technology, members get hold on the importance of accessibility. They place value on Afro-Centric education, thereby empowering future generations with the knowledge and skills needed to shape the continent's destiny.
