Mortal remains of Late Missomba Samuel



The Delegate General for National Security, DGNS, Martin Mbarga Nguele, and other member of the corps have bid farewell to the fallen retired Commissioner of Police, Missomba Samuel.

This was at a farewell ritual held in honour of the deceased Police Commissioner yesterday. It took place at the esplanade of the National Advanced Police School in Yaounde.

In strict respect of police rituals, the mortal remains of Commissioner Missomba Samuel were ushered in at the grandstand of police school in the presence of thousands of mourners including family members, friends, former colleagues and well-wishers.

The Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele, then proceeded to pay his last respect to the deceased police officer.

This was followed by last respect from other police commissioners who turned out for the funeral ceremony before the departure of the corpse for burial in the decease’s native Bonaoh in Moungo Division in the Littoral Region.

 

 

Daughter expresses gratitude for honors

The daughter of the deceased, Marlyse Missomba, expressed gratitude to mourners for standing by the family in the difficult moment.  

The massive turnout of officers, she said, assures them that they have a family within the police corps. 

While pledging to uphold her father’s legacy, Marlyse Missomba, described her late father as “a man of peace, a man who loved people and a man who loved and feared God”.

She said they will “continue to preach peace and have the fear of God” as their late father. 

Though regretting the demise of her father, Marlyse Missomba said she was proud of the legacy left by her father.

About the late Police Commissioner Missomba Samuel 

Missomba Samuel was born on May 2, 1933, in Banaoh, Moungo Division of the Littoral Region. The retired police commissioner died May 29, 2024, in Douala, following an illness.

He leaves behind two wives many children and grandchildren to mourn him. He began his professional career in 1951 where he served as a teacher in Mbouroukou, Melong, in the Littoral Region.

He began his police career in 1955 where he got admitted into the Police Inspectors Competition and was immediately assigned to the Nkongsamba Special Police Station.

In 1959, he got admitted to the very first competition for eight Cameroonian Superintendent of Police, and in 1960 he was appointed as Head of the Central Service in charge of General Intelligence at the Directorate of the National Security.

Moving forward in his career, in 1963 he became the Deputy Director of National Security, and from 1964-1968 he served as a senior superintendent of police.

He then became a police Commissioner from the year 1968-1970 where he was promoted to serve as the Director of Public Security at the General Delegation for National Security, GDNS, from 1970-1974.

He served as the Director of the National Advanced Police School from 1974 right up to 1976.

He later became the Technical Adviser to the GDNS, serving to 1978 when he was appointed Director of General Administration at GDNS.

From 1984, he was the Director General of the National Documentation Center right up to 1986 when he was appointed Director General of the National Center for Studies and Research.

From 1986, he served the last phase of his career to the nation. In 1988, he was admitted to receive his retirement rights leaving behind a good legacy and a solid foundation for those who followed behind him and those he taught.
