Not-for-profit organisation, the SAMDA Foundation Cameroon, has donated didactics to some 30 learners in Baligashu village in Balikumbat Subdivision, Ngokentunjia Division of the North West Region.

The didactics, meant to boost schooling, were handed over recently. The consignment comprised dozens of school bags, exercise books, pens and pencils.

The donation was within the context of a visit to the community, led by its Chief Executive Officer, CEO of SAMDA Foundation Cameroon, Elvis Sama, and Field Coordinator of the foundation, Kegah Kelvin Guka.

According to the donors, the gesture is to assist kids blocked at home due to the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions.

The goal, officials of SAMDA Foundation Cameroon said, is to ensure a good start of the 2024/2025 academic year.

In a statement, the CEO of the foundation said: “We believe in the potential of every child and that education is the key to unlocking that potential. Yet, due to financial constraints, education is an unattainable luxury for many children, especially with the ongoing crisis”.

Commitment to empowering communities

Investing in the future of children, Sama also said, is part of SAMDA Foundation Cameroon’s commitment to empowering communities through education, advocacy and other activities.

“Through this programme, we intend to encourage the less privilege as well as orphans to have access to education, which is part of their fundamental rights,” Sama remarked.

The pupil said she had been used to holding her books in the hand or using wrappings. She thanked the benefactors for beautifying her school life.

A Form Three student who received a school bag, 15 exercise books, five pens and three pencils, said she for the past two years, she had never had more than six 60 leaves exercise books.

The CEO of Sama Foundation Cameroon announced that the project will be expanded to cover most parts of Ngokentunjia Division and the rest of the country.

Sama reiterated that: “We will continue in a bigger way in the years ahead by touching the entire Subdivision, Division, Region and the national territory; where some of these less privileged are located”.

He also announced plans to support the four communities that make up the Balikumbat Subdivision viz; Balikumbat, Baligansin, Bamunkumbit and Bafanji.
