Pioneering and fast-growing initiative dedicated to promoting excellence in journalism training across the country, the Camer Today News Project, CTNP, has partnered with the Victoria International Media Merit Award, VIIMMA, to further boost its efforts to promote quality journalism in Cameroon through talent recognition and development.

The newly-signed partnership to this effect will see the CTNP initiative sponsoring two award categories for emerging journalism talents at the 2025 edition of VIIMMA.

The CTNP, an initiative championed by the steadily-growing news portal, Camer Today, announced the partnership in a press release yesterday, singling out student journalists as the main target.

Per the initiative, the structure will sponsor the Camer Today-VIIMMA Excellence Award for Best Feature Story and the Camer Today-VIIMMA Spotlight Award for Best News Report.

These awards, the release detailed, aim to honour outstanding journalism students who demonstrate excellence in feature writing and news reporting.

Each category, the release added, will showcase the depth, creativity, and critical thinking that these young journalists bring to their craft.

“We are excited to partner with VIIMMA to offer these awards and provide a platform for talented students to showcase their skills,” said Bizel-Bi Mafor, Head of the Camer Today News Project

Mafor said the goal of the move is to “encourage and recognise the next generation of journalists”.

“…we believe these awards will not only celebrate their achievements but also support their career development,” she added.

Nurturing, supporting young talents

The collaboration with VIIMMA awards underscores Camer Today’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talents and supporting the development of quality journalism in the country.

The institution says by partnering with VIIMMA in fostering an environment that celebrates journalistic excellence, Camer Today is not only promoting career growth and honouring excelling talents but also laying solid groundworks for a great media landscape in the country.

“Camer Today aims to inspire the next wave of reporters, writers, and storytellers who will shape the media landscape in Cameroon and beyond,” the initiative states in the press release.
