PSS Nkwen Ex-students Association donates didactics to members' children.

Cross section of ex-students immortalize AGM in Douala

The Presbyterian Secondary School, PSS Nkwen, Ex-students Association, PRENEXA, has donated didactics to children of its members to ease their return to school for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The school supplies, comprising books, school bags, pens and other didactic materials, were recently handed to members for onward transmission to their children.

This was during PRENEXA three-day Annual General Meeting, AGM, which held in Douala, in the Littoral Region, from August 16 to 18.

It grouped PRENEXA members from all batches in towns across the national territory.

Speaking while handing over the school needs, the National President of PRENEXA, Nkengla Blesse, pointed out that it was the association’s own way to assist members who are parents during the back-to-school period which is sometimes financially challenging.

Zoom on objective of AGM

Addressing members during the AGM, Nkengla appreciated all ex-students for taking time off their busy schedules to massively turn out for the gathering.

Their sacrifice to attend the AGM, Nkengla said, underlined the importance they attach to the growth of the association in particular and their alma mater in general.

This, he added, is because with their presence, they will actively participate, brainstorm and come up with initiatives that can boost the growth and wellbeing of their alma mater and all the branches of the association.

Nkengla told members that the AGM was also an avenue for all the ex-students to reflect on ways through which the association can better impact society.

The gathering, he stated, was also strategic as it will serve as a platform to implement new bi-laws, present and evaluate the progress on the various branches as well as plan on the forthcoming Silver Jubilee of the school, billed for 2026.

Speaking further, Nkengla told members that with improvement on the security situation in the North West Region, their beloved alma mater, PSS Nkwen, is now active and running with an encouraging number of students.

“The school is functioning well. If it is possible, you can send your children or your relatives to the school, please do,” he pleaded.

He also said teachers of the school are readily available to impact students with and good knowledge.

Ex-students urged to uphold school’s image

Nkengla seized the opportunity to appeal to all ex-students to continue flying the flag of the establishment high so as to uphold its values and image wherever they go.

“…we are begging you people to always carry the name of the school to wherever you are going. Be courageous to tell people you schooled here. From there, it will give them that light to want to know more about the school,” Nkengla said.

The PRENEXA National President also encouraged the ex-students to be able to help others grow. He harped on the need for them to hold one another’s hands by sharing opportunities they come across with other members, irrespective of the batch.

Nkengla concluded by calling on all the members to be one another’s keeper and continue to uphold the name of the school and the association.

Ex-students laud initiative of AGM

The ex-students saluted the efforts of the national bureau in maintaining and keeping the association going and ensuring all branches are active.

One of the ex-students, Chi Fabrice, praised the efforts of the branch presidents for their good work in bringing together ex-students from various towns.

“We know it is not an easy job for them to convince everyone to belong to the association, but with the support of other members, we know the association is growing,” Chi said.

Another ex-student, Kah Alvin, said she appreciates the idea of the AGM every year as it encourages ex-students to prioritise their fellow members more than outsiders.

“I think we should be able to uplift ourselves, first by sending job opportunities and other life changing opportunities to those of the association who need it before going somewhere else to look for those who need it,” she appealed.

The fun-filled AGM featured sporting activities such as a football competition between the various branches for boys and a 400-metre relay race for girls.

It also featured a back-to-school night where all ex-students recreated their school uniforms and activities, which took place during their time in the school.

The AGM rounded up with a gala night, during which awards were handed to PRENEXANS of The Year from different branches.

Two members, Chi Fabrice and Nformi Ramses, also bagged awards for their untiring efforts to ensure their growth of the association.
