A women-led non-governmental organisation, Women’s Alliance for Impact and Transformation, WAIThas trained some 100 girls and women in Fundong, Boyo Division of the North West Region on becoming change agents and contributing to the growth of their families and communities.

This was during a workshop organised in the Alim neigbourhood recently. It saw participants drilled on how to identify and unlock their full potential.

It was organised under the theme: “The Role of Women and Girls in Building Strong Families and Thriving Communities”According to organisers, the workshop was a powerful catalyst for growth and empowerment.

Through interactive sessions and engaging discussions, the attendees were equipped with knowledge, skills and resources to make a lasting impact.

The key speaker at the workshop was retired pedagogue and one time Councillor of the Fundong Council, Prudencia Ndim Waingeh. Another pedagogue, Muam Innocentia, and Chiaga Eric were also facilitators.

The workshop facilitators addressed four crucial themes; making a difference as a woman or girl, living a purpose-driven life, reproductive health education and menstrual hygiene management and goal setting.

The lectures and interactive sessions provided a holistic approach to personal and community transformation.

To further support the participants, each attendee received a “Gift of Hope” pack, which included essential back-to-school materials like exercise books, pens, pencils, and rulers, as well as much-needed sanitary pads.

The trainees lauded WAIT for the workshop and promised to put to action the lessons learned during the workshop.

Organisers of the workshop expressed the wish to see the ripple effect as the trainees return to their communities, ready to ignite a spark of hope and progress.

In a statement, the organisation’s founder, Rose Waingehsaid: “WAIT’s unwavering commitment to empowering the most vulnerable has once again proven its transformative power”.
