Ndu Subdivision: Suspected Fulani headsmen wreak havoc in Sop village again.

Bewildered Sob indigenes after attack

Gun wielding individuals, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, are said to have attacked Sop village in Ndu Subdivision, Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region.

The attackers are said to have invaded the rural localities in the wee hours of Wednesday. They are said to have in the process slaughtered a commercial bike rider to death and looted several shops.

The gunmen are equally reported to have opened fire on a pregnant woman who is said to be battling for her life. The woman in question is reported to have been transferred to the Ndu Baptist Hospital for proper treatment.

Wednesday’s invasion of Sop village comes days after the same group of suspected Fulani herdsmen stormed the same locality, killed and roasted a man on his sick bed and razed several houses. They are also said to have looted shops.

In reaction to the attacks, the traditional rulers Sop, Nseh Makop, and Mbipgo villages are said to have marched to the office of the Divisional Officer, DO, of Ndu to demand for action.

Sources hold that similar of such attacks have been recorded in Mbongong, Sehn, Mbandfung and Nseh Makop localities.

It is unclear the motives for the persistent attacks. But reports hold that the attacks are not unconnected to narratives that the residents of these villages are siding with separatist fighters.

The Guardian Post gathered that the Member of Parliament, MP, for Ndu, Mayor of Ndu Council and other elite have written to the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Donga Mantung to demand action over the development.

There are reports that the administration of Donga Mantung has ordered investigations into the incidents to unmask the truth.

The reported actions come amid calls from locals for those responsible to be tracked and punished in line with the laws in force.
