Projects executed in Meme Division with funding from the 2024 Public Investment Budget, PIB, are said to have the least execution rate as compared to other Divisions in the South West Region.

The information was disclosed in Kumba on Tuesday July 23, during the second quarter Divisional Follow-up Committee meeting of PIB funded-projects in the Meme.

The meeting attended by the committee members, including mayors, contractors, divisional delegates and services heads was chaired by the vice president of the follow-up, Francisca Zemenjou.

Taking the relay from the Divisional Delegate of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT, who revealed that Meme was the last in the region with barely 25.25% of project execution, Zemenjou frowned at the state of affairs.

She said such a performance doesn’t reflect Meme and it is happening at a time the population are in dire need of social amenities, which government is providing funding for.

She challenged the vote holders and government engineers to put their personal ambitions aside and work for the development of the Division.

The committee members examined, evaluated the level of implementation and difficulties so they can find common solutions.

In a detailed presentation of project execution in the Division, it emerged that Mbonge municipality tops with close to 48% realisation rate.

They are followed by Konye with 42.04% while Kumba II Council closes in on the third position with 14.09%. Kumba III municipality has 13.08% execution rate while Kumba City Council tails the chart with 0%.

Presenting the report of the Division with interventions from the Divisional Delegates, the MINEPAT boss for Meme, Stephanie Tankeu, said the mayors must give work hand in glove with government technical services to better achieve some of the earmarked projects.

She further called for a total synergy amongst all those who are involved in the follow up of the projects, to ensure that Meme is taken up to a comfortable position in the Region by the end of the physical year 2024.

At the close of the meeting, contractors were given up till October ending to meet up with the different projects at their disposal to ensure Meme division leave the bottom position in the South West Region.
