CBS Radio Buea recognised for outstanding contributions to community.

Station Manager of CBS Radio Buea, Batata Boris, brandishing award

Buea-based radio station, Christian Broadcasting Radio, CBS, FM 95.3, has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to fostering development and social cohesion through its programmes and other outreach activities.

The recognition is an initiative of Walcutz Development Association, WACODA. The award was handed the media organ Saturday July 13, during an annual award ceremony in Buea.

“In heartfelt appreciation for your outstanding dedication and invaluable contribution to our community. Your unwavering commitment, selfless efforts, and inspiring spirit have profoundly impacted the lives of many,” the message on the award reads in part.

CBS Radio was one amongst many institutions, organisations, and individuals that were recognised for their commitment to the development and progress of their communities.

Receiving the award on behalf of CBS Radio, the Station Manager, Batata Boris, expressed his delight to the award committee for recognising and appreciating the job done by his media organ.

“This recognition award means a lot to me as the Manager and my entire team of Journalists, Technicians, and other staff,” he said.

The Station Manager noted that the award is a recognition of the hard work carried out by the staff of CBS Radio to keep the public informed while fulfilling the communication mission of the PCC.

“…we work round the clock to ensure our audiences get not just fact-based information but we serve them with information that goes a long way to help them make informed choices. This is what we believe in as a media organ for the community. The recognition only comes as a reminder that persons are following and that we should keep up with the effort we are putting in and even double it,” he added.

Award of recognition handed

The recognition of CBS Radio almost a year since Batata Boris was appointed the Station Manager attests to his steadfastness and commitment to fostering the mission of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.

Batata said that since his appointment by the hierarchy of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, his goal has been to ensure that the media organ maintains the already established reputation of the media organ and to chart a wider path forward.

“Strategising and developing content that meets the needs of its listeners and other members of its community remains our priority to ensure the institution can remain relevant in the face of increasing competition in the media landscape,” he said.

A strategic plan Batata developed for the Radio has seemingly begun bearing fruits with the latest recognition.

The fruits, he said, are a testament to the fact that the staff of the institution have bought his vision and are working towards achieving it.

In this light, he has encouraged his colleagues to stay focused and not relent in picking up the innovations that come with the evolution in technology.

Addressing the listeners, he encouraged them to continue to trust CBS Radio Buea, saying the public’s trust was vital to them staying relevant.
