A comedy show which seeks to celebrate the country’s rich cultural heritage has been scheduled to take place in Yaounde Friday, June 28.

The show dubbed ‘Night Laughs’ is organised by Emmanuel Ayuk Bate, known artistically as ‘De Oracle’.

Speaking to The Guardian Post, ‘De Oracle’ revealed that Night Laughs is an annual comedy show that uses humour as a tool to bring about social change as well as improve lives through edutainment.

He said through the show, they intend preaching the values of love, peace, unity togetherness and hope. Already on its third edition, this year's show is organised on the theme: “Original Story”.

He aims to share with the world at large and Cameroonians in particular, stories that remind them of their unique cultural identity and values.

“The world is ruled by stories and who can tell it better if not comedians. During Night Laughs, we are going to use humour to celebrate Cameroonian culture, that is our meals, our societal values, dressing style and many more,” he said.

‘De Oracle’ added that through jokes, he and a host of other national and international comedians will tell stories that inspire and encourage country men to not only be proud of their culture which is their heritage but to promote and export it to the rest of the world.

“Comedy has to be relatable if not, it will not serve its purpose. Our primary target audience come Friday are Cameroonians. we will share with them interesting stories which they can relate to with the hope that they are not only entertained but will also acquire knowledge on the diversity of their country,” ‘De Oracle’ stated.

He added that this year, guest artists at Night Laughs will include renowned comedians notably, Spaco, Senior Pastor, Boy George, Kumba Boy, Laugh Apostle, Cedric la Pensee and Nikita Nike among others.

They will perform alongside musician, Sentman and spoken word and slam artists. Night Laughs was first organised in 2022. The theme then in 2023 was “Hope in a dark world”.
